Project Description

Amgen’s 10 – 12 week internship program offers meaningful project experiences that impact patient’s lives. This internship provides the opportunity for executive and social networking events and to participate in community volunteer projects while providing a competitive compensation.

Relocation in the form of a transportation allowance will be provided for eligible candidates.

This position reports into the single use, resins and filter (SURF) category within External Supply and will be based at Amgen’s headquarters in Thousand Oaks, CA. Amgen is an industry leader in the adoption of single use systems and has built a plant in Singapore solely around usage of single use systems as well as converting existing plants to be a hybrid of traditional stainless steel plants using single use systems where appropriate. Single use systems have therefore become a critical strategic element in raw materials and its adoption is rapidly expanding. The focus of this role will be to enhance the supply reliability of our critical single use systems procured from our supply partners. This role entails working cross functionally within Amgen to identify supply risks and mitigation strategies utilizing Amgen’s risk management process to bolster reliability and quality of supply.

Basic Qualifications
Amgen requires that all individuals applying for an undergraduate internship or an undergraduate co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:

18 years or older

Currently enrolled in a full time Bachelor’s Degree program from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent

Completion of one year of study from an accredited college or university prior to the internship commencing

Enrolled in a full time Bachelor’s or Combined Bachelor's/Master's degree program following the potential internship or co-op assignment with an accredited college or university

Must not be employed at the time the internship starts


Preferred Qualifications
Prior exposure to pharmaceutical or biotech companies
Familiarity with cGMP
Lean or Six Sigma / Operational Excellence skills
strong analytical/quantitative skills, be detail-oriented
strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal/collaboration skills
strong project management/organizational skills
