Job Description
  • Our company  Performance Materials is seeking a Milling Technician to join our Experimental Station Research & Development team.  
  • As a Milling Technician, you will be responsible for performing routine mechanical duties.    

Main job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:  
  •  Working safely with hazardous chemicals, weighing up chemicals and following the instructions/recipes given by the researcher 
  •  Working safely with machinery, including 2-roll mills to mix polymer compounds at high temperatures  
  •  Preparing samples of compounds and making molded parts for testing 
  •  Coordinating and conducting testing of molded parts using a tensile frame, rheometer and other analytical equipment 
  •  Coordinating materials, run-request submission, and support for semi-works operations for extrusion and molding 
  •  Documenting work in a computer database 
  • Ordering and purchasing of lab chemicals and supplies 
  • Maintaining chemical and warehouse inventory 
  • Coordinating outside laboratory testing including shipping samples following DOT requirements, and guidelines for import/ export 
  • Participating in team meetings including safety 
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of the facilities and safety


Job Qualifications
 The following are required:  
  • HS Diploma/GED equivalent and mechanical/hands-on work experience 
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time using various PPE including breathing air and cartridge respirators 
  • Ability to lift up to 55 pounds 
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail 
  • Computer skills and basic Microsoft office knowledge 
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills 


The following are preferred: 
  • Technical or vocational schooling/training or Associate's degree 
  • Knowledge or working experience on elastomers
