Project Description

The Undergrad Coop will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of Technical Resources that is part of the Quality Control Laboratory Organization Unit in Amgen Manufacturing Limited.

The candidate will have the opportunity to interact within multifunctional teams, learn about the principles of: (1) project/investigation management, (2) root cause analysis, (3) identification of effective corrective/preventive actions, (4) technical writing, and (5) data management. During this coop experience the participant will work alongside the Quality Specialists to develop and implement elements of the Quality System Forum and of the management of Data Retention. The goal is to develop tools/systems to Improve Personnel Capabilities and Behaviors and to improve the Metrics Process of the team.

The Undergrad-COOP will apply the skills learned at the university in the pharmaceutical industry and learn new ones from hands on experience of work assignment. Key skills include but are not limited to: communication, planning, organization, problem solving, team-working, data monitoring etc. This role will work and/or support real projects under supervision and guidance of highly skilled professionals that will help student to gain practical experience in the pharmaceutical field.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Management of the Quality System Forum including metrics, trending program, and technical report
Define/develop standard works (protocols/procedures) for specific tasks
Advance the document retention program for the Quality Control Laboratory Organization

Basic Qualifications
At least 3.20 GPA (General)
Be in the process of earning a Bachelor’s degree in; Life Sciences, Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, and or Industrial Biotechnology
Have completed at least 3 year of college education
Be enrolled in university

All individuals applying for an internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:
Have not graduated yet
Be pursuing an applicable degree or course of study

Preferred Qualifications
Be enroll in school under a Coop program
Strong technical writing skills
Project Management
Good interpersonal skills
Able to work with minimum supervision
Well Organized
Meet milestones and deliver high quality results
Enthusiastic about learning new concepts and work processes
Proficient in the following software: MS Excel, MS Word, MS Power Point
