Merck’s Global Supplier Management Group (GSMG) is looking to hire a talented individual to join us for an Economic Inclusion & Supplier Diversity internship that will help develop their professional skills, provide on the job training, and give exposure within Merck, a global leader in the pharmaceutical industry.
The Economic Inclusion & Supplier Diversity (EI & SD) Intern will support the daily operation of the EI & SD CoE within the Process, Operations & Strategy organization within GSMG. They will help support both tactical and strategic projects while providing recommendations for operational excellence and sustainable processes.
The detailed responsibilities are listed below.
Proactively engage w/ category CoEs and other key stakeholders for data management & diverse spend reporting
Supplier Diversity Leadership Council (SDLC) coordination
Category support & diverse supplier engagement
Internal site communications
Small business liaison & subcontracting compliance
Tier 2 process management
Data and certification validation of small & diverse suppliers
Other day to day activities as required based on priorities
Candidate Qualification & Education Requirements:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following preferred fields:
A similar Bachelor’s Degree within a field demonstrating technical competencies will be considered. Previous corporate work experience strongly preferred but not critical.
Understanding of data & metrics analytics
General procurement/sourcing knowledge. Knowledge of Supplier Diversity and Sustainability a plus
Excellent leadership, communication, presentation, organization & problem solving and influencing skills
Adaptable in dealing with ambiguous and complex environments
Able to effectively lead work within diverse cross-functional teams to achieve customer, department, and company goals.
