Responsibilities

We are seeking a Supervisor, Necropsy for our Safety Assessment site located in Spencerville, OH.

The Supervisor, Necropsy will oversee the necropsy laboratory and associated technical personnel, act as the primary point of contact in matters pertaining to area of responsibility within the laboratory, and be responsible for adherence to established guidelines of this area.  During a typical day, you can expect to oversee daily operational activities and supervision of staff to ensure optimum group performance, manage inventory and supply ordering, oversee development of special procedures, supervise departmental procedures.  You may also be required to assist technical staff as needed, oversee personnel management (scheduling, hiring, promotions, transfers, etc.), training and development, disciplinary actions, annual performance reviews (preparation and delivery), assist with budget development, and ensure adherence to pertinent regulatory requirements and to departmental policies, practices, and procedures (SOPs, safety procedures, biosafety protocols, etc.).

Qualifications

The following are minimum requirements related to the Supervisor, Necropsy position.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a biological science preferred.
  • 3-5 years of pathology laboratory experience.
  • Six months to one year in a supervisory role desired.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
  • ALAT or above certification preferred.
  • Must be able to perform effectively as a team member, accurately report data, follow verbal and written instructions, maintain a positive work atmosphere, communicate effectively, and interact in a professional manner with management, coworkers, and sponsors.
  • Experience with computer software programs is required.
