Project Description

The Staff Electrical Engineer position is a technical leadership position, responsible for leading electrical engineering and system integration activities to develop and commercialize complex instrumentation in the medication safety space. The individual would have responsibility for working cross-functionally to understand end-user requirements and mapping them to design specifications and developing an efficient architecture, ensuring a detailed and well-tested design. Specifically, this position will be responsible for the design of electronics hardware following good engineering practices and applicable standards for medical devices. It is expected that the applicant is also experienced with systems integration.
The applicant should have significant experience in the design of instrumentation and front-end analog sensor electronics, as well as A/D and digital electronics. The applicant should be very hands-on, prefer to work at the bench, and come up with innovative solutions.
In addition to strong technical background in electrical engineering, the applicant should have experience with design verification, design analysis to meet product requirements. In addition, experience developing designs using rigorous theoretical framework, use of design simulation tools. The individual will also work to ensure design for manufacturability and testability.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • B.S in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or related discipline. 
  • Masters or PhD is preferred.

Experience:

  • At least 7 years (10+ desirable) of experience as an Electrical Engineer designing both analog and digital circuitry on complex printed circuit board assemblies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong digital and analog circuit design background that includes: FPGAs, microprocessors, A/D converters, precision amplifiers etc.
  • Strong design skills and tools for schematic capture and board layout and simulation
  • Analog circuit design, signal conditioning, modeling
  • Test and analysis of complex analog circuits and mixed signal circuits
  • FDA guidelines on design and manufacturing of the medical devices.
  • Knowledge of data collection systems
  • PCB layout – particularly mixed circuit layout
  • Experience developing hardware products in a regulated environment.
  • Proficiency with state of the art electrical engineering development tools is required.
  • Experience developing hardware products in a Phase Gated Product Development process.
  • Experience in the development of complex instrument systems involving hardware, electronics, and optics, ideally in a healthcare, medical technology or life sciences area.
  • Ability to work with other functions and facilitate activities from a systems integration perspective. 
  • Expertise in development of cross-functional systems, including integration with analog/digital signal processing, electrical/electronic systems, software and optical systems. 
  • Experience in modeling, simulations, and sensitivity analyses desired.
  • Design for EMC, safety, manufacturability
  • Experience with RF product development and specifications
