Amgen is seeking a Specialist IS Business System Analyst to join Operations Information Systems (OIS) to be located at the corporate campus in Thousand Oaks, California. The Analyst will report to the Director – Data and analytics.

The Specialist IS Business Analyst is a key role within Amgen's Operations Information Systems (OIS) data and analytics team. The Analyst will be responsible for implementing Analytical and Data Science solutions and supporting the fast increasing demand for enabling data science and advanced analytics driven solutions for our business partners. The Analyst will primarily support Amgen’s Process Development organization by collaborating closely with data scientists and process analysts in Drug Substance Technologies (DST), Drug Product Technologies (DPT) and Attribute Sciences (AS) groups.

The Operations Information Systems team supports the Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Process Development functions to ensure they have the systems and processes necessary to supply lifesaving products to Amgen’s Patients around the globe.


Key responsibilities of the Business System Analyst include:
Collaborate closely with data scientists and process analysts in Drug Substance Technologies (DST), Drug Product Technologies (DPT) and Attribute Sciences (AS) groups to understand their analytics needs and translate them into specific data and process requirements.
Work with OIS team members, solution partners and other enterprise IS groups to define efficient solutions and manage the implementation of these solutions.
Lead the technical design, development, testing, implementation, and support of data science, visualization & analytics projects.
Prepare and maintain communication materials like roadmaps, position papers, presentations, demos, playbooks and socialize the materials with our business clients and partner IS services.
Maintain knowledge of market trends and developments in data science, machine learning and AI related emerging technologies to provide recommendations and incorporate them into our applications.
Deliver results in an environment consisting of diverse global and matrixed partners; including non-dedicated resources.
Effectively manage relationships with internal business partners, service partners and vendors.
Travel: Domestic and International travel up to 10% (Domestic and International) may be essential.


Basic Qualifications
Doctorate degree
OR
Master's degree and 3 years of Information Systems experience
OR
Bachelor's degree and 5 years of Information Systems experience
OR
Associate's degree and 10 years of Information Systems experience
OR
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Information Systems experience

Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of healthcare industry experience focused on analytics, data science, reporting or data management
Able to successfully develop, launch, and manage product offerings for analytics and data science
Hands on experience in developing statistical models and applying quantitative methods and machine learning to large-scale engineering problems.
Advanced knowledge of Python. Working knowledge of pandas, scipy, numpy, IPython, etc. Knowledge of R or SAS will be a preferred.
Experience using visualization tools like Spotfire and Tableau
Knowledge of data structures, architectures and languages such as SQL and database like HIVE, Impala, HBase
Penchant to learn about new technology innovation and creativity in applying to business problems
Ability to work in either a pure development role, or helping architect and design a solution, or act as a lead managing a development team.
