Project Description

The Specialist, Contracts & Pricing is a key member of the Government Programs (GP) organization within Trade, Pricing, and Contract Management (TPCM). TPCM is a part the US Value & Access organization and is responsible for the commercial and government pricing and contracting activities for a book of business in excess of $22 Billion annually. As a member of the GP team, the Specialist, Contracts & Pricing is central to ensuring Amgen s success in the Government Healthcare Markets including Medicaid and Medicare. The Government Healthcare Markets cover a substantial portion of Amgen patients.The Specialist, Contracts & Pricing is broadly accountable for the oversight of key performance indicators, execution of critical data analyses, monitoring of vital controls, and championing lean process improvements to ensure that Amgen is able to compliantly calculate and submit required pricing metrics to Medicaid, Medicare, and the Department of Veterans Affairs. This role interacts cross functionally with Contracting Operations, Trade & Distribution, Provider Contracting, Payer Contracting, Compliance, Internal Audit, Accounting, and Information Systems. Key Job Responsibilities Support the Medicare/Medicaid Pricing, VA/State Reporting, and Medicaid Rebates teams within Government Programs.Proactively identify opportunities to streamline processes and enhance the quality of the analytics performed by the team.Assess the adequacy of the risk management, control, and governance processes associated with team functions.Identify key internal and external risks that may impact Amgen s ability to maintain compliance with its Government Program policies, methodologies, and proceduresDesign and enhance mitigating internal controls to mitigate identified risksExecute internal control processes designed to analyze and validate data utilized with a particular focus on identifying outliers.Routinely interacts with cross functional peers, committees, and teams.Partner with Information Systems colleagues create and test business processes and systems that produce accurate and timely government pricing resultsAssist auditors with SOX and other audit related activities as needed to fulfill GP s audit responsibilitiesDocument policies, procedures, risks-controls, and findings.Champions and influences organizational change and education through daily behavior.Basic Qualifications Master s degree and 2 years of experience in either government pricing, commercial contracting and/or pricing, finance, accounting, auditing, compliance, analytics, and/or sales operationsORBachelor s degree and 4 years of experience in either government pricing, commercial contracting and/or pricing, finance, accounting, auditing, compliance, analytics, and/or sales operationsORAssociate s degree and 10 years of experience in either government pricing, commercial contracting and/or pricing, finance, accounting, auditing, compliance, analytics, and/or sales operationsORHigh school diploma / GED and 12 years of experience in either government pricing, commercial contracting and/or pricing, finance, accounting, auditing, compliance, analytics, and/or sales operations Preferred Qualifications Experience applying conceptual rules against detailed quantitative data sets in order to report results (e.g. government pricing, financial statement preparation, GAAP, financial analysis, actuarial sciences).Experience modeling, analyzing, and validating large quantities of data transactions and drawing conclusions from that analysis.Extensive experience with Excel and other analytical toolsets.Familiarity with data mining, creating analytical models, and generating ad hoc reports.Demonstrated experience working as an agent of change within a dynamic organization including specific experiences in project management and lean process improvement.Knowledge and understanding of internal control frameworks, audit standards, or compliance protocols.Demonstrated experience solving analytical and complex business problems and comfort in dealing with ambiguity in determining an appropriate path forward.Proven ability to execute and communicate effectively in a highly fluid, interactive, matrixed environment; demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple simultaneous, complex projects to completion; comfort in presenting to Leadership.Deep interest and/or experience navigating the evolving U.S. healthcare system with specific interest on the interactions between Government and Healthcare.Authoritative command of complexity and ambiguity; ability to see the big picture; ability to collect, digest and assemble information to enable relevant business analyses and controls.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Amgen is an Equal Opportunity employer and will consider all qualified applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, or disability status.
