Coordinate and process microbial samples in the laboratory utilizing various technology platforms. Provide technical support to customers on instrumentation, sample preparation, submission and interpretation. Provide advice and guidance to the Technical Services department and customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Perform bacteriologic analysis for customer on in-house samples utilizing varying instrument platforms.
•Develop, implement and administer test methods for customers’ samples.
•Provide technical support to customers using instrumentation for microbial analysis.
•Coordinate departmental standard operating procedures and qualification documents.
•Partner with Technical Services Manager and Director to ensure training needs are identified and efficient and effective practices are in place.
•Conduct both in-house and customer site trainings.
•Perform laboratory activities necessary to isolate, grow and maintain cultures of bacteria.
•Perform and manage bioburden testing, membrane filtration and, cleaning validations.
•Perform and administer testing on raw materials, in process testing and drug products.
•Collaborate with Technical Support to resolve discrepancies with customer samples.
•Process, receive, unpack, log, customer samples according to current SOPs.
•Aliquot and prepare reagents.
•Provide backup for all laboratory functions when needed and perform or support special projects in the lab when needed.
•Process and dispose of microbe cultures, chemicals and glass in proper waste containers.
•Comply with all aspects of laboratory safety, safety stations, safety manuals, safety SOP, and MSDS sheets.
•Perform all other related duties as assigned.
•Education: Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. /B.S.) in Microbiology biology or a related discipline.
•Experience: 3-4 years related experience in a pharmaceutical microbiology laboratory setting.
•Other: Must have ability to work in a fast paced and team oriented work environment. Strong attention to detail and accuracy required.
