We are seeking Senior Technicians for our Central Laboratory Services department site located in Elphinstone, Tranent

Key responsibilities include the following:

  • Analysis of clinical pathology samples using automated instruments interfaced to the department’s Laboratory Information Management System
  • Maintenance and calibration of main analytical instruments
  • Manual ELISA & other immunoassays as appropriate
  • Review & approve data in the LIMS (approval dependent on experience /qualifications)
  • Liaise with study directors, report compilers and sponsors regarding laboratory data
  • Assist in the development and validation of biomarker assays

The following are minimum requirements related to the Senior Technician position’s:

  • A HND in a biological/life science subject; science graduates will be considered but HND is the preferred entry level
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to pay attention to detail
  • Good communication skills
  • IT literate with experience of Microsoft packages and ideally experience using a LIMS

About Central Laboratory Services

Clinical Pathology is responsible for analysing biological samples, mostly blood and urine, taken from animals on toxicology and other regulatory studies with occasional involvement in clinical trials. Training will be provided for instrument operation and working in a GLP environment.
