Project Description

We currently have a new requirement in our project Management group, supporting our Medical Affairs function ensuring all Medical Affairs (MA) projects are delivered in a timely manner. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Medical Project Manager to assume oversight, strategic direction and execution as well as delivery of all Medical Affairs sponsored projects.

 

Purpose & Scope:

  • Ensures consistent and effective leadership of the global Project Management function in support of the Core Medical Teams (CMT) and Core Medical Plans (CMP) across all therapeutic areas.
  • Leads budget processes for over 30 compounds and ensures full alignment between medical and commercial functions at a global level.
  • Ensure best practices are used consistently across functions and regions including effective risk mitigation plans are developed and implemented to address study execution issues.
  • Project Management oversight of all MA sponsored studies, ensuring Harmonisation and alignment on the reporting of MA sponsored studies at a global level.
  • Ensure effective resource allocation for all MA globally and at a regional and country level.

 

Key Activities:    

 

Lead the execution of the annual Core Medical Plan (CMP) and annual budget process for over 30 compounds, including quarterly forecasting and proactively manage and communicate budget and budget variance to senior leadership.

 

Lead and manage a team of 6-8 project managers, provide direction and oversight on all projects and ensure adequate project management resource allocation across portfolio of MA CMTs. 

 

Work closely with MA Leadership Team (MA-LT), Medical Affairs Committee (MA-C), Operations Forum and other cross functional team members (including, Marketing Strategy (MS), and external partners) to ensure full and timely implementation and execution of all MA sponsored activities related to CMT and CMP

 

Co-secretariat of the Global Product Strategy Committee with MS counterpart, ensuring effective governance of MA sponsored studies via the GPSC

 

Responsible for defining Medical Affairs Project Management’s mission, vision and values that align with the wider MA mission and vision

 

Develop and implement 3-year roadmap for Project Management in Medical Affairs and build and sustain relationships with senior leaders and major stakeholders for this purpose

 

Oversees vendor and contract management for MA, ensuring the timely execution of contracts and that work with external vendors is conducted in full compliance with internal and external regulations

 

Responsible for the virtual leadership for all Medical Affairs Project Management globally and accountable for the timely introduction of project management tools, techniques and processes and their effective integration into the global way of working within corporate boundaries.

 

Serve as primary liaison with Budget & Control group for all Medical Affairs budget (currently >$300M annually)

 

 

Requirements:

 
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Life sciences discipline.
  • Significant project management experience in healthcare industry, preferably in a clinical or medical environment. Product development knowledge or experience of Medical affairs operations.
  • Evidence of managing a remote team and people development.
  • Experience aligning strategy and operations activities across medical affairs and commercial.
  • Proven, effective organisational leadership capabilities in a matrix organization with the ability to manage change projects.
  • A good understanding of MA activities in order to set clear priorities and goals.
  • Ability to map resources internally and externally as part of a 3-year strategic capacity plan with the ability to flex capacity as required.
  • Evidence of strong Project management skills in a heavily regulated environment.
  • The ability to present and communicate core data under strict time constraints.
  • Fully fluent in written and verbal business English
  • Work experience across multiple cultures and countries / regions is a plus
