Amgen is seeking a Senior Associate Information Systems (IS) DBA - SQL who will assist Infrastructure Operations supporting all activities related to SQL Server Database administration, including associated company and governmental regulated audit and security compliance. Coordinating database administration functions for both development and production environments while operating in a 24x7 regulated, the Senior Associate DBA will learn and become a subject matter expert on other new database technologies eventually introduced into the Amgen environment.

The Senior Associate IS DBA will report to Senior Manager Information Systems at its Capability Center in Tampa, FL. At Amgen, our mission is simple: to serve patients. This state-of-the-art center serves as a base for finance, information systems, and human resources professionals to make a meaningful impact at one of the world s leading biotechnology companies.

The Infrastructure Operations team is the Global Enterprise Administration group that manages physical and virtual hosting including private and public cloud hosting options, operating systems, databases, middleware, storage, and backup. The primary databases supported by this group are MS SQL and Oracle and will be expanding to other technologies such as Hana, NOSQL, PostgreSQL etc.

Key Responsibilities
Supports the Service Owner, peer full-time employees, and managed service provider in the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of the technology service
Ensures service is aligned with the key principles of service ownership which includes: meeting the needs of the business, cost effectiveness, scalability, compliance, reliability, and resilience
Database administration responsibilities include: installation, upgrades and optimization, access control administration, backup/recovery, database vendor contract administration, disaster recovery support, development and test environment support, documentation, and infrastructure and methodologies improvements
Supports application and database design decisions to ensure that application solutions exhibit high levels of performance, security, scalability, maintainability, reliability upon deployment
Supports investigation and resolution of technical database issues
Supports leadership on a portfolio of databases, including installations and upgrades of DBMS software, backup and recovery strategies, and high availability configurations
Supports planning, implementation, and configuration of MS-SQL Database software including DBMS and related services including business requirements (OLTP, decision support, standby DB, replication) while ensuring database security regulations, policies, and best practices

Basic Qualifications

Master s degree
Bachelor s degree & 2 years of Information Systems experience
Associate s degree & 6 years of Information Systems experience
High school diploma / GED & 8 years of Information Systems experience

Preferred Qualifications
Database Certifications and experience with SQL Server, SQL AlwaysOn
Experience managing and administering MS-SQL Database and related services monitoring systems
Previous experience mentoring and managing junior DBAs and various toolsets for Database Administration, Performance, Reporting and monitoring needs
Scripting and ITIL experience and managing regulated systems (preferably in Pharma sector)
Understanding of operating system tools for performance issues
Working knowledge on NAS/SAN storage, Clustering and HA configurations
Excellent data-driven problem solving and analytical skills
Proven experience as part of a high performance team
