Senior Alliance manager
  1. Provide strategic partnership analyses and solutions to Lilly China senior management regarding commercial/development issues facing various alliances. Possible areas for solutions include: governance, decision-making, structure, and roles & responsibilities.
  2. Serve as the primary interface with Corporate Business Development (CBD) on alliance related projects and provide strategic business case analysis.
  3. Serve as an advocate for the alliance within the corporation.
  4. Ensure that integrated, transparent business processes are established between the partners in order to ensure the teams meet the stated objectives and goals of the alliance.
  5. Conflict Management/Problem Solving: establish partnership mission and guiding principles (how success is defined) and act as independent ombudsman for the alliance (what is best for the molecule)
  6. Work closely with corporate Office of Alliance Management to manage Alliance Governance & Relationships: help facilitate key alliance governance meetings, develop partnership interventions to increase teamwork/trust between Lilly and its partners.
  • Experience working in an alliance or similar environment
  • Deep expertise in the development of a pharmaceutical product
  • Pharma/biotech industry knowledge required such as the product development process, marketing and sales, business development
  • Highly developed analytical skills – a strong mix of financial, development, commercial
  • Excellent Judgment – regarding the “how”, “what”, and “when” of addressing alliance partners and key stakeholders with sensitive issues
  • Public Speaking – must be able to address and persuade key stakeholders to make decisions and follow a set course of action
  • Deep understanding of how Eli Lilly and Company operates and who to call to get help solving complex problems
  • Excellent writing and communication skills – the ability to distill complex ideas down to a few pages of written material to fuel senior level decision making (experience writing policy committee presentations a plus)
  • Polished constructive confrontation skills – must be able to confront senior leadership on both sides of the alliance without “stepping-over-the-line” and offending, while still getting the opposing message through
  • Ability to work across cultures – both corporate and national cultural boundaries
  • Demonstrated comfort level working with ambiguous data
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and cooperate and collaborate with all levels of an organization
  • Highly developed meeting facilitation skills
  • Significant mediation skills for group or individual interactions
  • Strong Project management skill
  • Strong financial experience
