This is an exciting opportunity to join the Biomarin US GL team supporting the company’s rapid growth, leading process transformation and cross-functional projects, partnering with international counterparts and FP&A with heavy exposure to the business.
The Sr. Accountant, Corporate Accounting will be responsible for deliverables critical to the Company’s corporate financial close through applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze, record, reconcile and report the company’s financial results. Must be a good communicator and interact with Finance department personnel and other departments in order to gain proper understanding of operating transactions and financial statement components. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including the monthly accounting close and financial statement preparation cycle, quarterly external audit, SOX compliance activities and ongoing business process transformation activities.
The successful candidate will be an experienced accountant and will report to the Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting. Candidate should be able to multi-task and work both independently in a fast-paced dynamic environment and be a strong collaborator with peers. Candidate must possess a strong desire to learn, grow and develop their skills while providing enhancement to the current accounting function. Attention to detail and good analytical skills are essential.
- Accounting for transactions and performing reconciliations for related Balance Sheet accounts including participation in process transformation initiative
- Performing monthly variance analysis on correlated PL accounts
- Accounting for Accruals and partnering with FP&A team on the monthly accrual process
- Accounting for Convertible Debt, NQDC, Equity, taxes for stock compensation, VAT, certain cash accounts
- Cross train with other team members to provide coverage, if/when needed
- Internal and External audits support
- Sarbanes Oxley compliance
- SEC Disclosure support
- Actively participate in process transformation of the monthly close cycle
- Policy and SOP drafting
- Work on Ad Hoc projects
Minimum 5 years’ experience in Accounting, preferably with combination of Big 4 audit and public company experience.
Public company corporate accounting experience, with close experience in a complex environment, required.
Ability to partner in a multi-entity environment.
ERP system experience required as related to general ledger, and close. (Oracle EBS R12 and HFM preferred)
