|Job Description||This scientist will develop innovative solutions for Process Analytical Technology (PAT) within each of Biogen’s four therapeutic modalities: Proteins, Pharmaceuticals (small molecules), Oligonucleotides, and Gene Therapy. Evaluating existing and emerging spectroscopic and other analytical technologies, this scientist will build capabilities within our development functions. The scientist will evaluate where these techniques can replace existing off-line technologies to provide rapid analysis and shortened decision cycles for our process development partners. The scientist will also collaborate with manufacturing scientists to find and develop technologies that can be impactful in a manufacturing setting. These solutions will be delivered to both internal and external manufacturing functions. |
In this function, the scientist will contribute to novel control strategies across our modalities. The scientist will be expected to influence Biogen scientists, the biotech and pharmaceutical industry, and regulatory bodies in the appropriate design and implementation of these process monitoring advances. The scientist will present their work at conferences, enabling industry-wide adaptation of their technology advances.

|Qualifications||The candidate should have deep knowledge of spectroscopic techniques and experience with real-time monitoring of chemical and/or biological processes. Strong communication skills are a must, as this position will require influencing a team that includes organic chemists, biochemists, molecular biologists, chemical engineers, and mechanical engineers.|
|Education||The ideal candidate holds a Ph.D. degree in chemistry or biochemistry, with 0-5 years of post-doctoral or industry experience.|
