Project Description



Maintain positive control over study materials with supervision.
Receive, verify and inventory incoming tissues, blocks and slides
Work with Coordinator/Lead Technician to determine disposition of all study related materials (ship, dispose, or archive) upon study completion.
Prepare biological samples for shipment (check, ship, dispose or archive). 
Determine appropriate storage conditions for all incoming samples with guidance.
Prepare study materials for shipment according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Good Laboratory Practice Regulations (GLP) for archiving materials and Federal Shipping Regulations as they apply to FedEx® and UPS services, or courier for domestic and international shipments.
Retrieve study and facility materials as needed.
Maintain appropriate documentation to demonstrate positive control of study-related materials with guidance.
Prepare for shipping and transport study materials to other internal laboratories or client facilities.
Perform all other related duties as assigned.


Education:  High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D or equivalent) in inventory control or related discipline.  
Experience: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
Other:  Basic computer skills. Good organizational, oral and written communication skills.  Attention to detail and accuracy.  Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time while performing laboratory tasks.
Frequently required to walk, sit, stand, reach with hands and arms, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. 
Regularly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
Regularly uses close vision and the ability to adjust focus and detect and differentiate colors.
Must be able to lift, move, manipulate, and/or hold heavy objects up to and including 50 lbs.  This includes work materials, equipment, and/or supplies while reaching, bending, stooping, or climbing stairs.
Must be able to wear safety equipment (PPE) according to OSHA regulations and company standards.  
General office/warehouse environment. 
May work in a chemical fume hood.
May work with sharp objects.
Regularly wears protective clothing (gloves, lab coat, and safety glasses).
Regularly works with or near toxic or caustic chemicals.
Works in a low temperature environment for periods of time.
Frequently works with biohazards.
The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
Hours for position are 10:00 am to 6:30 pm.
This position may require overtime and/or after hours coverage as needed
