The Research Associate will join the technology development team within the Core Technologies Group, providing support through experimental design, execution and reporting on critical enabling technologies. The successful candidate will work both independently and as a member of a cross-functional team.
- Plant sample handling under greenhouse conditions and sample processing within the lab
- Executing experimental protocols, recording observations and data management for tissue sampling
- Designing and executing genotyping and sequencing experiments
- DNA extraction, PCR amplification, sequencing library prep, biochemistry optimization, and supporting instrumentation development
Bachelors degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Plant Physiology, Cellular Biology, or related interdisciplinary training, 0 to 2 years of industry experience preferred. Alternatively, associate’s degree in similar fields with 2-4 years of related experience will also be considered. Strong knowledge in molecular biology, cellular biology and plant physiology. Solid skills on tissue culture and DNA/RNA-based technologies. Strong skills in experimental design, execution, trouble shooting and data processing and analysis. Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as math and computer skills. May be required to do physical lifting and work in varying ergonomic environments.
