Project Description

Duties and Responsibilities
Day to day manage the production team of the Polymer Value Stream  
  • Take responsibility for a production team of 2 x 10 team members in the Polymer Value Stream (which includes the weighing/sampling area) 
  • Report to the Production Manager 
  • Peers: Technical Coach – Validation Coordinator – Quality Officer 
  • Function: day job, when necessary: needs to work in shifts 
  • Organize the manufacturing of pharmaceutical products for one value stream:  
    • prepare and communicate facility objectives to ensure daily manufacturing and achieve operational objectives, specifically around quality, safety and operational efficiency 
    • establish work directions, develop schedules, set deadlines and performance requirements for the team members 
    • work in collaboration with the supply department to ensure materials are available to meet production schedules, packaged according to specification and shipped in a timely manner 
    • ensure the security and accountability of materials with inventory control 
    • monitor and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment to maintain production line efficiency and reliability while minimizing downtime 
    • draft and write procedures safeguard against quality, environmental, health and safety problems 
    • evaluate current procedures and practices for accomplishing set objectives and then develop and establish changes to policies which affect the Operations function 
    • assure all associates follow GMP and safety procedures as well as company SOPs and general policies to ensure the highest quality standards 
    • guarantee the equipment in the production area is perfectly calibrated and serviced and that maintenance technicians are directly informed when issues are encountered 
    • prepare and participate in regulatory inspections and compliance audits 
    • review operating staff performance and promote individuals’ development to enhance performance at individual and team levels 
    • complete accident/incident reports and conducts investigation. Participate in follow-up meetings and CAPA (Corrective And Preventive Action    

Support projects in VS (middle-long term)  
  • Support projects as system owner:  
    • participate in project teams for VS (= decision making on the project, schedule project activities) 
    • write procedures 
    • organize training for the team members 
    • allocate team members to project activities 
    • select and order consumables    

 Lead the production team to a high level of self-organization (long term)  
  • Develop and train the team to higher level of product, equipment and process-knowledge 
  • Develop and install processes (based on lean principles) to facilitate the team to self-organize their tasks:  
    • daily team meetings 
    • problem solving 
    • SMED 
    • TPM 
    • 5S 
    • OEE 
    • levelled load planning 
    • standardized work instructions   
  • Coach the team to higher levels of self-organization  

  • Master’s degree in a technical or business discipline: chemistry, physics, engineering, biochemistry 
  • Minimum 3 years of operational experience, ideally in a pharmaceutical environment 
  • Team leadership and coaching experience required 
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written) 
  • Cross functional collaboration skills 
  • Good knowledge of French and of English (spoken, written, read). Any other language is an asset 
  • Strives in fast changing environment 
  • Understanding of KPIs for manufacturing operations 
  • Shows good understanding of GMP repository, with ability to translate to operational details and communicate to the team 
  • Flexible, able to set priorities and solution oriented 
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office 
  • Resistant to stress
