|Job Purpose : |
Serve as key technical resource within Process Team, including:
• Implementing Process Safety Management processes & improvements;
• Maintaining equipment and direct impact utilities in a qualified state;
• Improving the process and support process operations through optimisation & continuous improvement;
• Acting as User Representative for capital projects.
1. Technical knowledge:
1.1 Know and understand the fundamental theory of each unit operation within the process
1.2 Generate and maintain the Engineering Design Document for each process within the area of responsibility
1.3 Incorporate this knowledge into plant Standard Operating Procedures, and support knowledge transfer by coaching and training of Operations personnel
1.4 Generate and maintain mass and energy balances and understand where the pinch points and bottle necks exist.
1.5 Understand the key process basis of safety and environmental safeguards for the process.
2. Safety and Environment:
2.1 Champion and implement Process Safety Management Processes (including those associated with COMAH, DSEAR and GIPSM where applicable);
2.2 Conduct PHRs and implement recommendations;
2.3 Maintain Process Safety Information;
2.4 Investigate Safety and Environmental Incidents, document using TrackWise/CAPA;
2.5 Develop and deliver training to production and support personnel in key PSM requirements;
2.5 Maintain IPPC application and understand the location of releases to air, sewer and ground.
3. Support Manufacturing
3.1 Develop an understanding of industry expectations for (bio)pharmaceutical manufacturing, including a knowledge of key legislations (cGMPs) and relevant corporate standards (E)GQS;
3.2 Investigate Process Incidents, document using TrackWise/CAPA and Root Cause Investigation techniques;
3.3 Liaise with TS/MS and operations to improve the process, utilising Lean methodologies, where appropriate;
3.4 Review and document the robust operation and qualified status of process equipment and utilities in the Product Quality Review.
4. Drive process improvement in close co-operation with Operations, TS/MS and Quality unit personnel:
4.1 Organise and run plant trials;
4.2 Develop and implement improvements;
4.3 Use TrackWise/CAPA to document and manage change.
5. Own capital projects:
5.1 Work with Process Team to identify and prioritise capital requirements;
5.2 Develop user requirements for capital projects involving process equipment;
5.3 Be the team contact point for these projects;
5.4 Define/Agree commissioning and qualification requirements and plans;
5.5 Support commissioning and qualification of new equipment, including system acceptance.
6. Establish external contacts and develop professional expertise:
6.1 Obtain and maintain corporate IChemE membership;
6.2 Belong to subject groups at site and corporate level.
