Principal Software Engineering Lead – Cloud Automation - United States
The Principal IS Architect will report to Senior Manager, Information Systems at its Capability Center in Tampa, FL. At Amgen, our mission is simple: to serve patients. The GBS Technology Infrastructure Services’ Cloud & Automation team is responsible for design, delivery of services & solutions to enable Amgen application & business teams to run & manage their workloads in both - on premise & public cloud.
Key Activities for the Principal IS Architect include:
Partners with business and technology subject-matter experts to identify needs, opportunities that would improve their ability to run & manage their application workloads
Translates business requirements to features, scalable technology solutions. Define, prioritize & groom epics, features, user stories in backlog to deliver the solutions to meet business requirements
Responsible for all aspects of software development life cycle for Cloud & Automation Management Platform – requirements, architecture/design, implementation, test & launch
Lead cross functional teams for software design & implementation, in agile, fast paced development environment
Be thought leader & influencer in organization for cloud development best practices, continuous delivery & security
Supports the Service Owner, peer full-time employees, and managed service provider in the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of the technology service
Ensures service is aligned with the key principles of service ownership which includes: meeting the needs of the business, cost effectiveness, scalability, compliance, reliability, and resilience
Advices on balancing business, technical and cost constraints in support of projects while evangelizing and communicating the roadmap within IS and with their Business partners
Provides technical mentoring and coaching to junior engineers or architects
Travel: International and Domestic travel up to 10% may be essential
Doctorate degree and 2 years of Information Systems and/or Software Engineering Lead experience
Master’s degree and 6 years of Information Systems and/or Software Engineering Lead experience
Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of Information Systems and/or Software Engineering Lead experience
Associate’s degree and 10 years of Information Systems and/or Software Engineering Lead experience
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Information Systems and/or Software Engineering Lead experience
8+ Years object-oriented experience with one of: Java, C#, Golang, Node.js or similar
8+ Years as a full stack developer covering both frontend & backend
4+ Years with building trusted, secure, customer friendly tools for developers
3+ Years with integrating cloud services using native SDKs or Web Services (RESTful or SOAP)
Experience defining development standards, conducting code reviews & manage overall codebase
Experience with large scale distributed infrastructure systems, MVC, client server & micro services architectures
Experience using open source software, tools & libraries
Understanding of Active Directory, PKI Services, Single Sign On, OAuth etc.
Team leadership experience & skill set
Experience with software delivery tool chain (e.g. Microsoft Team Foundation, Jenkins, Git etc.)
Demonstrated experience across multiple infrastructure technologies such as Operating Systems, Data, Application Hosting, Virtualization, Storage, and Networking
Bonus Points: Experience with Cloud Computing platforms: AWS, Azure or Google
Excellent data-driven, problem solving analytical skills with proficiency in persuasion and negotiation of critical issues with previous experience in a high performance team
Demonstrated excellence in communication, leadership and negotiation skills with ability to drive decisions amongst stakeholders while proving thought leadership and technical oversight to bring infrastructure & cloud enabled projects into high functioning production services
