Project Description

  • We are seeking a Polymer Scientist to participate in our ongoing success as a profitable, fast-growing, socially responsible company dedicated to Global Health. 
  • As a Polymer Scientist, you will actively participate to activities to develop polymer knowledge to enhance our drug delivery platform.  
  • As a member of the scientific team, you will help develop a thorough understanding of our company s scientific strategies and priorities.  

Primary Responsibilities   
  • Synthesize and characterize polymers by conventional techniques (NMR, GPC) 
  • Conduct a variety of tests and experiments to analyze and improve the manufacturing process of the polymers  
    • Synthesis 
    • Purification 
    • Scale up   
  • Propose new methods of synthesis and characterization; perform the appropriate literature review and give recommendations 
  • Write study plans/protocols and reports 
  • Compile and analyze data; record data in lab notebooks in English 
  • Present processed data to the team in English 
  • Participate in client meetings and / or teleconferences when required, communicating in English 
  • Ensure the careful and complete documentation/archiving of all generated data 
  • Work closely with other team members and perform activities in response to priorities 
  • Verify that established procedures are followed and quality standards are maintained 
  • Maintain laboratory equipment  

Secondary Responsibilities
  • Prepare controlled release formulations of a variety of active pharmaceutical ingredients 
  • Perform in vitro experiments to characterize formulation performance and help in defining the formulation components and variables necessary to meet product specifications under the guidance of a project leader 
  • Conduct analytical method development, validation and routine analysis for the techniques related to the polymer characteristics in the drug product  

Experience and Education
  • Minimum of a Bachelor s degree in polymer chemistry or biomaterials applied to pharmaceutical science 
  • Minimum of three years of experience in polymer chemistry research or Master s degree in polymer chemistry applied to pharmaceutic 
  • Transnational / international educational or work experience 
  • Experience working in an international team or with international clients preferred 
  • Laboratory research experience involving synthesis and characterization of polymers and/or the formulation of drug delivery systems  


Scientific / Technical  
  • Hands-on experience with analytical techniques, such as NMR, GPC and HPLC 
  • Experience in process design for polymer manufacturing 
  • Knowledge of basic statistics and experimental design  

Language and computer 
  • Fluency in oral and written English 
  • Experience in writing professional documents in English preferred 
  • Proficiency in MicroSoft Office, internet use, and e-mail communication
