DuPont Pioneer offers various internship programs which offer a wide variety of experiences within the DuPont Pioneer business. The Professional Internship Program is designed to provide college Juniors and Seniors with the necessary knowledge, experience and skills to prepare for potential career with DuPont Pioneer.
The Professional Intern – Plant Operations will support safe, effective and efficient management of seed production processes. Work assignments may include business improvement and productivity initiatives; participating in labor planning needs; managing equipment maintenance, repair, and utilization; assisting in capital investment projects; leading safety and/or environmental assignments.
The preferred candidate will be an incoming Senior pursuing a 4 year degree in agricultural systems technology, industrial technology, operations management, agriculture engineering, industrial engineering, occupational safety and health, or related field with a broad interest in the agriculture industry. Previous internships in production operations or relevant experience preferred. Strong communication skills (oral and written), teamwork and leadership skills, strong computer and analytical skills are required. Potential candidates should possess: the ability to work effectively within a team environment; lead and influence teams/projects; and the ability work in and adapt to a rapidly changing business environment.
Other requirements include: the ability to work in plant manufacturing environment, have limited exposure to chemicals, dust, noise, temperature variation; moderate lifting - 50-100 lbs, ability to work long days during peak seasons. Must also be willing to travel between production locations and company headquarters as needed.
Part of the Professional Internship Program is completing an assigned project and presenting the results to a group of business leaders in Johnston, Iowa. Professional development opportunities include exposure to other parts of the seed production business.
