Oncology Medical Team Leader-MED002868DescriptionUnder the general supervision of the Regional Oncology Global Medical Affairs Leader, the Country Oncology Medical Affairs associate director is responsible for the oversight and leadership of the country and all personnel activities. He/She is responsible for establishing a network of local thought leaders aimed to facilitate local Country/Cluster scientific discussions in the Oncology health arena. He/She also leads the organization of local Country/Cluster scientific teams within Oncology areas aligning medical and commercial managers in order to develop local coherent strategies encompassing scientific, medical, regulatory and economic aspects. He/She is the Medical affairs individual who is ultimately responsible for the review and approval of the Oncology CBL promotional material.The incumbent models and demonstrates the Merck Leadership Standards in all interactions with employees, internal partners and external clients, with special emphasis on shaping strategy, delivering customer value, and collaboration with ethics and integrity.Primary Activities:Activities related to Leadership of the O-GMA Organization " Responsible for the oversight, management and leadership of the country or cluster " Maintain responsibility for all people in the O-GMA country/cluster including oversight of staffing, workload, performance, development, strategic planning and work/life balance " Ensure individual development plans are created for all members of the organization " Drive effective management of change by personal sponsorship and example " Instill a commitment to compliance in the way that we approach and complete all responsibilities/functions " Focus on developing skills, knowledge, and competencies to increase leadership, professional skills, enhance career growth and improve communication " Create/contribute to a positive environment of robust, open debate and discussion, cross-functional collaboration, and compliance with applicable regulations and Merck Business practicesActivities related to Marketing: " Liaise and negotiate with national and international physicians to establish good relationships and improve the perception about Merck Oncology products " Ensure the marketing and sales teams are kept up to date with new scientific data " Detect, compile and analyze all information on MSD and competitive Oncology products, and disease necessary for the Oncology Marketing and Sales areas " Organize and attend national and international scientific events (meetings, congress and symposium). Cooperate in the organization of scientific meetings, sponsored or fully organized by MSD. Contact and assist global and local speakers, as well as local speakers invited by MHHD or other subsidiaries. " Medical review/approval of Oncology promotional material, medical information and communication materials in accordance with the policies and procedures " Accountable for coordination and proper implementation of local and IISP clinical studies " Provide medical support to key activities aimed to include Merck products into public and private formularies " Continuous support to the Oncology medical team for Life Cycle Management opportunities (new products developments or combinations) liaising global communications and local needs " Deliver presentations at medical meetings and events as appropriate " Organization and implementation of Advisory Boards and input activities (i.e. Advisory Boards and EIFs)Activities related to Sales Force " Ensure the Oncology sales force is kept up to date with scientific data. Provides or coordinates medical training and assistance to the Sales Force, both preparing medical bulletins and special presentations, and verifying the quality of their knowledge in the field. " Accountable for medical review/approval of training materialsActivities related to the Oncology Medical Department " Foster collaboration among local marketing leaders, regional marketing support, RDMAs and medical managers in order to facilitate scientific tools, delivering presentations " Provide oversight of Access programs in their countries " Act as a liaison between Marketing and Clinical Research staffs. Supports GCTO in the Identification of potential investigators with adequate profiles and infrastructure " Provide input into appropriate prioritization of Merck studies and sites selection, consistent with local strategy, balancing the short term and long term needs of local subsidiary. Coordinates local clinical studies planning and assignments, and IISP. " Provides Medical support to Regulatory and Pharmacovigilance areas " Maintains and strengthens a fluent relationship with medical and government officials, at a level of cooperative and scientific interchange " Perform a selected bibliographic reading and selection of Oncology clinical studies from international publications or from other bibliographic systems " Provide training in PIR, DPOC and other processes to subsidiary members " Final approval for the Oncology Country Medical Affairs Plans (CMAPs) maintaining alignment with the overall brand strategy " Foster communication between Oncology Medical Governance  areas: Regulatory, MRL, Pharmacovigilance, Quality, and Medical Affairs Managers in order to align actions or improve procedures " Drive and implement non promotional Medical Own Meetings  related to Oncology, such EIF and Advisory boards. " Collaborate with Scientific Leader speaker programs aligned with MSD procedures (GEMS Country to Country program). " Motivate and drive medical initiatives with Client Focus  across Oncology Medical Affairs " Participate in and chair the Medical Governance Country Board " Accountable for implementation of procedures related to the oncology medical area " Accountable for implementation of the Oncology DPOC for the subsidiary " Final responsibility for medical review of oncology product labels " Collaborate with registration and reimbursement of Merck Oncology products " Represents MSD affiliate beyond medical and scientific local and national entities as requested " Responsible for the Oncology medical department budget planning and accountabilityActivities related to Corporate Activities " Comply with the corporate policies, procedures and quality standards " Approve physicians participation at scientific events to ensure compliance with corporate policies " Act as an ambassador  for non-commercial programs/social responsibility (i.e. Merck for Mothers) in order to create awareness, and support public relation activities from the scientific viewpointQualificationsTertiary Qualifications:Position requirement: Medical degree, Oncology preferredKnowledge " Pharmaceutical industry and healthcare environment " Oncology " Commercial environment " In-line and pipeline product knowledge " Industry Code of Conduct " Sales and marketing " Financial " Corporate / Head office environment " Local Compliance/Regulatory understandingExperience min 2-3 years clinical experience and >5 years pharmaceutical industry experience " Medical Affairs " Medical-marketing " Industry Code of ConductJob: Medical Affairs - MD ONC Job Title:Assoc.
