Project Description

Scientific Communications Manager
  • To deliver components of Scientific Communication as defined by SciCom plans
  • To provide Medical Information for one or multiple products in an affiliate
  • To provide ad-hoc SciCom support to the Affiliate brand team(s)
  • To contribute to the development of local brand SciCom plans as component to the Medical / Brand planThe Scientific Communications Manager, Affiliate:
  • Is a Affiliate role based at in an affiliate hub or country

Reports to:
Senior Manager Scientific Communications Scientific Communications Senior Manager (at minimum)

Responsible for:
  • Timely and high quality delivery of assigned SciCom deliverables and activities
  • Adherence to regulatory and legal regulations, SOPs, policies and guidelines
  • Adherence to global and regional strategies
  • Delivery of defined functional activities and adherence to functional guidelines Key Activities 
  • Intake, processing, and responding to external and internal  Medical information inquiries in compliance with regulations and company SOPs/guidelines 
  • Timely entry of inquiry data into Medical Information eSystem
  • Timely triaging of AE/PC to the appropriate departments 
  • Adaptation of applicable regional/global Medical Information content to local regulatory requirements
  • Version control, reviewing, and updating of Medical Information content needed locally 
  • Analyzes and articulates content needs via work in regional / global SciCom teams 
  • Non-Promotional & Promotional Materials
  • Develops and delivers assigned SciCom materials and tools, such as slide decks and MedInfo FAQs, for internal and external usage based on plans and country needs 
  • Partners with Medical in the development of non-promotional educational materials 
  • Ensures local approval of EHQ derived non-promotional items, after local adaptation if needed 
  • Reviews non-promotional materials as per SOP
  • Provides support to commercial in the development of promotional materials with scientific content and reviews promotional material as per SOP 
  • Ensures dissemination of relevant scientific information/literature internally.Support to educational activities
  • Supports/owns the development and delivery of affiliate satellite symposium and educational events
  • Participate in planning and implementation of satellite symposium and similar scientific/educational events, ensure high scientific standards and alignment with key messages
  • Supports planning and delivery of digital channel Medical activities in assigned area
  • Supports Advisory boards by delivering required materials
  • Provides key performance metrics for assigned areaGeneral & others
  • Supports the development and refinement of best practices and functional processes, systems and standards 
  • Maintain effective working relationship and alignment with EHQ SciComm
  • Supports vendor management for SciCom related activities
  • Maintain and expand knowledge and expertise in relevant medical-scientific areas 
  • Contributes to local pub planning, SciCom planning, and execution
  • Delivers or supports delivery of medical-scientific training for internal staff or vendors
  • Delivers / supports delivery of business process, like MedInfo processes,  training for internal staff / vendor

PhD in a life science, Pharm D, MD or MSc with substantial additional biomedical background

  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience (preferred  4 years), preferably in biotech/pharm. industry
  • Experience in multiple areas, including medical affairs or medical marketing and with international exposure
  • Experience with interpretation of clinical trials and pre-clinical data
  • Experience in generation of science-based materials.
  • Basic knowledge of clinical trial conduct and top-line regulatory issues desirable 

  • Broad scientific knowledge and specific knowledge relevant to assigned therapeutic area
  • Knowledge of regulatory / safety / legal requirements and implications of Medical Communication and Medical Information activities
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
