We are seeking the right individual to fill a highly visible position with responsibility to provide results- driven leadership to the purchasing, planning, shipping/receiving, inventory and facility departments. Key areas of accountability include hands-on participation in department activities, planning, budgeting, purchasing, resource management, scheduling, training, supplier management, and implementation of best practices. Continuously improve supply chain activities to reduce costs while improving customer satisfaction levels.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide input and data to support Tecan’s budgeting and strategic planning process.
Develop and own relationships with suppliers to support Tecan’s business goals.
Establish and achieve realistic departmental goals and objectives that provide world-class materials performance to the organization.
Establish and manage the department budget.
Establish, track and report meaningful departmental key figures / measurements.
Analyze reports, measurements and external benchmarks to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Responsible for accuracy of data in ERP system (purchasing, shipping/receiving, inventory movement transactions.)
As a key Process Owner, actively support the Quality Management System.
Work with respective Process Owners for development of procedures and work instructions.
Proactively lead the materials team to continuously improve processes and procedures.
Maintain adequate and appropriate documentation and records for all transactions to be in compliance with applicable FDA, ISO and Company requirements.
SCHEDULING AND PLANNING
Schedule material demands and work order completion dates in ERP system in order to ensure material availability as required to support production schedule and achieve customer delivery requirement.
Proactively manage material and work order exceptions and provide feedback to Production Manager and the Order Admin on cases critical to achieving on-time delivery performance.
Ensure buyers are buying at the optimal quantity and price.
Ensure timely receipt of materials to support the production schedule and manage material supply chain within budgeted inventory levels.
Resolve material shortages escalated by the purchasing group.
Manage, mentor and direct procurement activities.
Manage purchasing agreements to protect Tecan’s interests.
Implement collaborative replenishment programs with key suppliers and drive continuous improvement to ensure cost effectiveness.
SHIPPING / RECEIVING / INVENTORY MANAGEMENT
Ensure customer orders are appropriately packaged and shipped promptly, accurately and with necessary documentation.
Ensure all materials are received promptly and accurately.
Monitor inventory levels, product movement, control/isolate non-conforming product as defined by local work instructions.
Manage daily cycle counts and reconcile inventories as required.
Perform inventory transactions accurately and timely.
Optimize overall inventory value.
Work with suppliers and production employees to eliminate waste and damage to raw materials.
Create procedures and reporting for the effective management of inventory.
Provide cost effective, efficient, and traceable movement of company products both in-bound and out-bound.
Resolve import and export issues.
Assist in the preparation of facility policies and procedures used to ensure adequate controls of inventory are in place.
Ensure that the facility is well maintained (janitorial, garbage, lighting, etc.)
Responsible for managing/coordinating building maintenance.
Assist in the coordination of building space allocation and layout and facility expansion
Actively participate in safety committee.
TRAINING, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
BA/BS degree in business administration, material management, accounting, or similar discipline.
7+ years working experience in an industrial manufacturing environment with extensive experience in materials management, including purchasing, inventory, and planning.
Ability to work in a regulated environment. Experience working in an ISO 9001, ISO 13485 or QSR environment is preferred.
Work experience in the medical instrumentation to high tech industry is an asset.
A broad range of management skills is required with particular emphasis on leadership, supervision, motivation, communication, and planning.
User Experience and Proficiency with MRP systems, SAP preferred.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
Self-motivated, energetic, dependable, honest, and thorough.
Strong planning, organizational, analytical, communication, and networking skills are required.
Ability to change direction and handle multiple responsibilities and tasks on a regular basis.
Management style that complements Tecan’s culture of integrity throughout all areas of internal and external business activity.
Lean experience a plus.
