Responsibilities:
We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated scientist for the Immunology Group within the Biotechnology Discovery Research (BioTDR) Division. You will have the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary organization, interacting with colleagues within the Immunology Group to explore small molecule and bioproduct therapeutic opportunities for autoimmunity and chronic inflammation. This will include the identification and in vivo validation of new drug targets as well as participation in ongoing research projects, with the primary focus being to develop preclinical animal models to provide in vivo data to support pre-clinical screening, design and mechanism of action studies of candidate therapeutic molecules.

Key Objectives/Deliverables:
  • Investigate and determine the mechanism of action of small molecule and protein therapeutic drugs in in-vivo settings.
  • Assist in developing animal models to support in advancement of autoimmune/ inflammatory drug targets by the use of both acute pharmacodynamic models and longer term disease models.
  • Possess strong problem-solving skills and creativity with a willingness to search and review the scientific literature independently.

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Immunology or related field with ideally at least 2 years of work experience in an academic institute, biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry.

  • Extensive in vivo experience with respect to rodent handling, dosing and necropsy
  • Knowledge of pharmacodynamic, autoimmune/inflammatory and transgenic/knockout model development is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and multitasking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to design and execute experiments, analyze, interpret and present experimental data.
  • Basic knowledge of cellular biological techniques (e.g., gene expression analysis, ELISA, multiplex cytokine analysis).
  • Immunohistochemistry experience
