  • Our company  has around 1000 employees in the UK spread across 5 main production sites and a number of smaller sites. 
  • The main manufacturing focuses in the UK include advanced materials for aerospace and automotive, aquaculture, consumer goods & healthcare, biocides for mining and other industrial applications.
  •  We also house 3 cutting edge Research & Innovation centers in aerospace and automotive advanced composite material development.


Mission of the role
To provide, as a senior commercial lawyer, broad legal services to all of company’s businesses in the UK, comprising 10 sites & 40+ companies.


Scope of the role
  • A wide range of legal areas will be covered including commercial, company law, mergers & acquisitions, competition law, employment law, environmental law, real estate and litigation (with outside counsel where appropriate).
  • Position reports to the Country Manager & Head of Legal, UK & Ireland.

Key Responsibilities
  • Give legal advice regarding day-to-day business operations
  • Provide sound and timely legal services to meet the needs of internal clients
  • Advise clients on legal alternatives, taking account the impact of the advice on the company
  • Advise on compliance with laws and regulations
  • Advise on compliance with corporate governance and compliance policy
  • Give legal advice regarding complex business operations and projects
  • Provide advice and support in conjunction with the Head of Legal, UK & Ireland
  • Help define strategies to defend the interests of the Group
  • Develop and implement legal policies and guidelines
  • in conjunction with the Head of Legal, UK & Ireland
  • Participate in negotiations with business partners
  • Prepare negotiations with internal clients to achieve consensus
  • Negotiate legal position with third parties
  • Draft, review & validate legal documents
  • Prepared internally within the company  by other lawyers or business colleagues
  • Prepared by third parties
  • Co-ordinate with company business lawyers
  • Communicate local legal issues with company lawyers (based outside the UK) who are responsible for the relevant business area
  • Maintain ongoing dialogue with company business lawyers
  • Interact with other company  lawyers where appropriate
  • Manage Litigation
  • Manage disputes and litigation directly or together with outside counsel
  • Support Head of Legal, UK & Ireland on major litigation
  • Manage external counsel
  • Instruct, co-ordinate & manage external counsel
  • Ensuring effective cost control 



Qualifications 
  • Education: Solicitor qualified in England/Wales
  • General commercial law experience
  • In-house legal experience required
  • At least 5 years post qualification experience
  • Knowledge of French an advantage
  • IT skills in Gmail, Word, Excel & Powerpoint
