Head, R&D Transverse Systems - United States
Applying a combination of IT business partnering and services experience, leadership, business knowledge and technology expertise, this role is responsible for serving the technology-enabling Cross-Functional needs of R&D. This global role will lead a team of IT professionals responsible for development and execution (in collaboration with other Global IS/IT groups) of technology strategic roadmaps (inclusive of processes and technology capabilities) for implementations in the areas of R&D Portfolio Management, R&D Program/Project Management, and R&D Finance.
·Ongoing Strategy & Demand Management: Influences and collaborates with R&D functions and IT peers to jointly develop and owns the ongoing technology strategy/roadmap process, and prioritized Cross-Functional services and project portfolio for R&D Cross-Functional capabilities. Manages and drives with Business & Functional Relationship staff to identify and prioritize high value use cases for business enabling technology solutions to support R&D Cross-Functional internal innovation, effectiveness, and efficiency.
·Solution/Capabilities Design & Development: Championing the technical design and development, evolution or acquisition (including SaaS) of R&D Cross-Functional platforms; directs and influences standards and guidance to source system owners; ensures and experts integration with related functions (e.g., data engineering pipelines, onboarding and help desk, security; develops proofs of concept / initial pilots to assess applicability of new approaches and/or solutions, when needed; manages and directs transition from experimentation/ piloting to production-readiness when applicable.
·System/Capabilities Support and Services: Manages and influences R&D Cross-Functional platforms, systems, capabilities, and services that are unique and specific to supported business functions, while continuously pursuing opportunities to transition RUN responsibilities to more effective and efficient core groups or providers. This is inclusive of managed service providers, and any vendors required to provide routine maintenance and operational support.
·Overall IT service Delivery: Contributes to the annual budgeting process and manages the quality and cost of ongoing delivery of all IT Services to budget in order to support business functions regardless of how - or by whom - the underlying systems are supported.
·Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
·A minimum of 8 years relevant IT/Business experience including project scoping, analysis and documentation of business and technical requirements.
·Experience in the Pharmaceutical industry and specific experience in Research and Development is crucial, with good business process skill and a high understanding of the technologies, tools and systems used throughout.
·Strong knowledge of IT Computer Systems Validation processes.
·Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team.
·5+ years of IT consulting and working in complex, global matrixed organization.
·PMP Certification or equivalent
