Project Description

Amgen s 10  12 week internship program offers meaningful project experiences that impact patient s lives. This internship provides the opportunity for executive and social networking events and to participate in community volunteer projects while providing a competitive compensation. Transportation allowance may be available for eligible candidates. The graduate intern is expected to complete the following tasks for a prospective observational study, retrospective study and/or a health economic model under the supervision of hiring manager and working supervisors:[For prospective study] Working with the GHE team, and external vendor to develop analysis plan, provide analytical input and complete an analysis of study results for dissemination internally, use in regulatory inputs, and external publications.[For retrospective study] Working with the GHE team, and vendor to, design the study and specific objectives, develop the protocol and accompanying documents, and generate preliminary results[For modeling study] Working with the GHE team and key opinion leaders to conceptualize the model, creating a preliminary framework of the model in Excel or TreeAge, conducting literature review to identify parameter values, and using the preliminary model to perform feasibility analysesPresenting accomplishments during the internship to the GHE DepartmentThe intern will get the opportunity to improve skills in observational studies and health economics modeling through project experience. The intern will also learn the cultural environment of Amgen through interacting with colleagues from GHE and CfOR.Basic QualificationsAmgen requires that all individuals applying for a grad internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria: 18 years or olderGraduated with a Bachelor s Degree from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalentCompletion as a first year graduate student before internship starts and currently enrolled in a MBA program for a MBA internship OR a Master s program for a Masters internship OR a PharmD program for a PharmD internship OR PhD for a PhD internship from an accredited college or universityEnrolled in an accredited college or university following the potential internship or co-op assignmentMust not be employed at the time the internship startsPreferred QualificationsCurrently in the process of obtaining an MS or PhD in economics, pharmacy, pharmacoeconomics, health policy, health economics, health services or health outcomes researchExperience in retrospective health care database analysis,Intermediate experience with analytical software including SAS and/or SPSSExperience in health economic modeling using Excel or TreeAgeExperience in prospective observational studiesAmgen is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer and will consider all qualified applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, protected veteran status, or disability status.Only candidates who apply via www.careers.amgen.com will be considered.
