Government Pricing and Compliance Manager


Avadel, a publicly traded specialty global pharmaceutical company with commercial offices located in Chesterfield, MO is seeking a Government Pricing and Compliance Manager. The Government Pricing and Compliance Manager will be responsible for the calculation, analysis, submission and contractual obligations of statutory pricing associated with federal and state government programs.  The Government Pricing and Compliance Manager will also be responsible for performing audits and monitoring procedures related to the Company’s Compliance Program.


The Government Pricing and Compliance Manager will report to the Corporate Compliance Officer, and will be based in the Chesterfield, MO office. The Government Pricing and Compliance Manager will work with many internal departments including Sales and Marketing, Finance, Legal, Compliance and the Sales Force. The external relations include Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services, The Veterans Administrations, the Company’s third party logistics vendor, and professional associations.





Government Pricing

  • Drives the end to end process from preparation to calculation through submission of government pricing (“GP”) calculations and other reporting requirements associated with federal and state programs, including but not limited to AMP, BP, FSS, NFAMP, FCP, 340B/PHS
  • Ensures all calculations are prepared accurately and timely, and comply with both external regulations as well as internal policies and procedures
  • Maintains clear logical records that serve as supporting documentation for a clean audit trail
  • Analyzes monthly, quarterly and annual calculations and prepares variance analytics to assist in management’s review and to provide answers to anticipated questions
  • Supports all management and product modifications for Programs and Program contracts, including the preparation of any contract bids
  • Processes and approves quarterly state Medicaid invoices
  • Creates and maintains compliance documents, such as policies and procedures, SOPs and working instructions
  • Identifies, analyzes, and reduces GP compliance risks inherent in GP reporting, and in developing or enhancing existing controls to mitigate these risks
  • Reads and analyzes commercial and payor contracts in effort to identify any potential GP impacts, and articulates back to the business any GP concerns
  • Responsible for the oversight of any required training and certification of certain members of management
  • Trains relevant functions on triggers that have a downstream impact to government price reporting
  • Analyzes the impact of price increases, decreases or other pricing/marketing strategies on government pricing programs
  • Collaborates with departments in the development of budgets and forecasts for government discounts and rebates
  • Leads the development of internal reports/controls for all government price points



  • Participates in the Company’s Compliance Committee meetings and partakes in action items
  • Assists in the development, preparation and analysis of the Company’s risk assessment
  • Conducts salesforce field compliance audits
  • Manages the data gathering and formatting of the Sunshine Act reporting requirements
  • Assists in delivering compliance trainings and communications throughout the organization
  • Completes various administrative and haphazard tasks required by the Compliance and Legal departments

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5+ years Pharmaceutical Government Pricing experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible, related experience is required
  • Exposure to multiple areas of Government Pricing, Managed Markets and/or Finance
  • Auditing and/or Finance experience is ideal
  • Thorough understanding of GP program regulations, including Medicaid, Medicare, Federal Supply Schedule, PHS/340B, and TRICARE
  • In-depth knowledge and expertise of Excel and a working knowledge of other MS Office applications
  • Excellent analytical capabilities and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to self-start on projects and work independently
  • Adapts to multiple demands, shifting priorities, and rapid change
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously
  • Some travel is required
