The incumbent provides expert level design and support for one or more of the core components of Perrigo’s global network infrastructure. As an Engineer, the incumbent will design, implement, validate and support standard/cGMP qualified infrastructure systems based on innovative, industry-standard solutions. Network Engineers isolate and resolve system problems, analyze support patterns to proactively prevent issues, research and develop new support processes, and assist with strategic planning of networking services. The incumbent requires an analytical approach to solving problems and must be able to handle all phases of technology implementation including design, solution development, testing, end-user pilots and rollout. Continuous education is required to maintain competency in a fast-changing business and technical environment. The incumbent is a member of the Global IT&S Network Engineering Team whose members must work together effectively to continuously improve the reliability and usability of the company’s network.
Each Network Engineer will have specific expectations and accountability within the IT&S infrastructure environment. In general, each Engineer must possess strong skills in configuration, deployment, and support for their technical systems. The candidate will need to have experience with Cisco networks, specifically WAN, LAN, Data Center and security technologies. A thorough understanding of Cisco switch and router platforms is necessary. Strong communication skills and customer service orientation are essential. The incumbent must also be a self-motivated team player with the ability to work independently. The candidate should be a quick learner and able to adapt to any situation.
These skills are normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor degree in computer science, electrical engineering, CIS, IT, or a related field, combined with 2-5 years of experience in the IT Industry. Certification in appropriate technologies, such as CCNA or others is a plus. Experience with Cisco Nexus, ACI, and/or DMVPN is desired.
