Finance Director, Global Discovery Services - United States

Plan, direct and control the financial analysis and budgeting functions for the global Discovery Services organization. Oversee all Finance personnel at sites.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Direct, consolidate and administer annual budget preparation, forecasting, management reporting and analysis of results for assigned business segments.
•Direct all Finance personnel at the Discovery Services sites and divisions.
•Develop financial strategic plans consistent with the established corporate goals and objectives, and ensures timely and cost-effective execution within budget.
•Oversee the consolidation of financial reporting for business reviews. Analyze, prepare and present budgets and strategic plans to senior corporate management.
•Perform complex analyses including year-to year comparisons and margins on new goods and/or services for forecasting purposes.
•Perform selective review of animal inventories including production expectation and availability.
• Review standard costing for valuation of inventory and measure performance of the business.
•Integrate new business/acquisitions into the CRL budget process.
•Analyze profit and loss with the imperative of timely adhering to monthly deadlines reporting.
•Communicate effectively with staff at all levels of assigned business units in order to understand the full function of the business and provide accurate forecast information. Maintain confidentiality of all budgetary information.
•Working with Corporate Finance and Internal Audit staff, ensure applicable sites and government accounting adherence to corporate governance standards (e.g. Sarbanes-Oxley).
•Develop new approaches, processes or methods to solve new business problems, act as an agent of change and continuously reevaluating process to achieve expecting earnings growth.
•Direct activities of assigned group(s) to ensure optimum performance of the group/function.
•Responsible for personnel management activities such as: scheduling, personnel actions (hiring, promotions, transfers, etc.), training and development, providing regular direction and feedback on performance, disciplinary actions and preparing and delivering annual performance and salary reviews.
•Develop short- and long-range operating objectives, organizational structure, staffing requirements and succession plans.
•Integrate activities with those of other major organizational units (e.g. segments, departments, functions).
•Develop and recommend departmental budget and authorize expenditures.
•Develop and oversee the implementation of departmental training programs, including orientation.

•Ensure adherence to pertinent regulatory requirements and to departmental policies, practices and procedures [SOPs, safety procedures and biosafety protocols].
•Perform all other related duties as assigned.
•Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in accounting, finance or a directly related discipline. MBA is strongly preferred.
•Experience: Ten or more of year’s related experience in accounting/finance function, with at least five years of experience in financial analysis.
•An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
•Certification/Licensure: CPA or CMA designation desired.
•Other: Previous supervisory experience preferred. Excellent communication skills required.
•Must regularly operate a computer and occasionally operate other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
•Must regularly communicate with employees/customers; must be able to exchange accurate information.
•Must occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
•General office working conditions, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
•This position requires domestic and international travel.
