Description:
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our company as an Expert in Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) aspects related to the R&D activities managed at GLPG.    In this role, you will be responsible to 
  • Determine / propose a corporate EHS strategy, taking into account (inter)national legislation and best practices guidelines, which will be endorsed by respective GLPG governance bodies
  • Ensure proper implementation of EHS strategy with site-specific / local EHS representatives at the different GLPG R&D sites
  • Provide continuous EHS guidance by acting as an internal advisor on relevant EHS procedures and regulations, to ensure correct interpretation and implementation to mitigate risks.
  • Build collaborative working relationships with subject matter experts (e.g. prevention advisor, biosafety officer, environment coordinator, facility manager, human resources, quality & Compliance)
  • Identify areas for improvement based on EHS related risks analysis and potential inspection findings reported during Regulatory Authority inspections
  • Ensure proper incident/accident management analysis, including root-cause analysis, CAPA formulation and adequate implementation  


 Education:  
  • Master in chemistry or biological sciences, or equivalent through experience
  • Prevention advisor level 2 or higher
  • Environmental coordinator level A  
  

Experience: 
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in applied EHS for chemical/biological products, preferably in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry
  • Experience in EHS risk assessment
  • Experience in audits
  • Knowledge of laboratory environment

Communication skills: 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Fluent in English; good knowledge of Dutch and French is an asset
