The Analytical R&D department within Merck Research Laboratories is seeking applicants for a Director position. Reporting to Executive Director of Analytical Chemistry Project Teams, the successful applicant would direct the analytical development and registration of new Merck drug products from an API perspective, and act as people manager of a group of up to 20 senior and associate level laboratory scientists that perform analytical development.
The Director would manage a portfolio of projects within the group, providing strategic scientific and regulatory oversight and resources for executing on API development plans and serving partners/customers. He/she would be accountable for the growth/career development and performance of direct reports. In addition, the director would initiate and lead initiatives related to technical and innovation strategies, compliance, and/or other business improvements
- B.S.OR Ph.D. in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences or related field
- A minimum of 8 years (Ph.D.) OR a minimumf of 15 years (B.S.) of experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry within chemistry, analytical chemistry or related field.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated creativity, strong leadership/interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in a team environment with cross-functional interactions are essential
- Understanding of internal & external regulatory landscape & impact on scientific decision making
