Controlled Environments Intern (Johnston, IA) - United States

We seek an intern to work with the pipeline management team to participate in research to develop new support process. The pipeline management team works with a variety of genome engineered crops. The successful applicant will be expected to have a small research project that she or he will present at the conclusion of the internship.
- Conducts experiments to completion, according to specific procedures, learning to exercising independent judgment and discretion as appropriate.
- Summarizes results of experiments, noting problem areas, while recommending actions to be taken within standard procedures.
- Work with scientist to develop and execute experiments.
May be requested to maintain appropriate inventory of chemicals and/or supplies necessary for the completion of experiments at work location.
May be requested to assist in conducting experiments at other research sites, laboratory areas, or groups.
Student majoring in agricultural or plant biotechnologies (plant physiology, botany, molecular biology or biochemistry).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as math and computer skills.
Individual must have a high degree of self-motivation and take initiative.
Knowledge of embryo rescue, sterile technique and tissue culture is preferred.
May be required to do physical lifting and work in varying ergonomic environments.
