Animal Health Global Supplier Management is an organization of about 90 professionals with the common objective of compliant, competitive, and innovative acquisition of goods and services from leading suppliers and partners that deliver a competitive advantage to MSD Animal Health. We manage approx. USD 1.2 billion of third party spend through an organizational structure encompassing the global leverage of center-led categories and regional operating resources.

The Senior Specialist will be responsible for leading the global strategic sourcing and implementation of Capital Construction Projects for our small molecule sites in Austria, Germany (2), France (2) and Italy with the responsibility to develop sourcing strategies from the conceptual scope. You will collaborate with sites to implement these projects on time at the best overall cost and manage supplier relationships within the MSD Animal Health Division. In the future, the scope of the role will not be limited to a single category.

Working closely with the Associate Director of Capital Category, you will take an active role in the development of global procurement strategy, category management, contract management, risk management and stakeholder management, with a key focus on supplier value management of the suppliers. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to support outsourcing of manufacturing, business development acquisitions and lead cross-departmental/cross-functional initiatives. Work location is Vienna, Austria; business travel mainly to sites in scope will be approx. 30 percent

Primary activities include but are not limited to:

- Working with Associate Director of Capital Category to establish Capital Construction Services and Execution sourcing strategies for small molecule manufacturing facilities located in EMEA, North America, and Latin America
- Collaboration – Actively work with local Procurement teams form other categories to implement strategies and projects
- Stakeholder Management – Provide the leadership, strategy and policy for the function by building a high performance engagement model with the business stakeholder in multiple geographic regions
- Performance – Drive competitive sourcing events (RFIs and RFPs) and support vendor selection, commercial negotiation, and market awareness
- Procurement – Serve as a leader and role model of Sourcing Management
- Supplier Value Management – Implement Supplier Value Management with the key suppliers to foster innovation, manage supplier performance, establish a Governance Model, and ensure continuous improvement with a focus on Operational Excellence
- Departmental Projects – Support operational excellence projects that drive our goals and metrics in small molecule area

Qualifications

- University degree in Engineering, Science, Business or another relevant discipline
- At least 5 years of industry experience in the Animal Health/Pharmaceutical industry or another similarly complex manufacturing/production environment
- Strong background in strategic sourcing and/or Capital Construction Management sourcing and execution
- Expert knowledge of technology sourcing activities, including RFP development, bid response evaluation, and contract negotiations
- Strong negotiating and contracting skills; global experience is preferred
- Strong communication skills; demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across different levels of the organization and disciplines
- Strong leadership and team building capabilities; thrives in entrepreneurial environment
- Strong customer focus; ability to be the one face of MSD Animal Health to the external party
- Strong project and time management skills; documented experience managing multiple, complex projects simultaneously
- Documented experience working with internal legal operations
- Excellent interpersonal, and collaboration skills; sensitivity to diverse cultures
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal coaching
- High degree of flexibility and adaptability to deal with ambiguous and dynamic situation
- Professional proficiency in German and English, both verbal and written
The minimum annual base salary for this position is EUR 50’480 and varies according to the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
