Solvay is looking for an experienced General Expense buyer to join their team.  As a member of the North American Purchasing & Supply Chain Excellence (PSCE) team for North America, the Buyer is responsible for supporting the management of Indirect spend in the categories of General Expense (GenEx) and Information Technology (IT).  The individual will foster strong relationships with internal customer in order to understand their needs and make strategic recommendations. 
The Buyer will be responsible for developing and leading the end-to-end sourcing lifecycle, through RFI's and RFP's including competitive bidding process, service provider selection, negotiating price and terms/conditions in partnership with internal stakeholders and legal. This individual will develop master service agreements, end-user license agreements, and statements of work with SLAs. Perform financial analysis and risk assessment to recommend optimal solutions to the businesses.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • Professional certifications in Purchasing are a plus.
  • 3-5 years of GenEx purchasing experience, including contract negotiations required.  Experience in procuring Financial Services, IT or Consulting Services preferred
  • Demonstrated track record of business results in a matrix environment and/or with multiple companies
  • Cross company and/or cross matrix experience working in managing large complex projects
  • Excellent negotiating skills
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills
  • Strong communication, presentation and teamwork skills
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Ability to interact with all levels with customers, 3rd party providers and internal stakeholders
  • Time management skills required to maintain multiple projects
  • Demonstrated self-starter with the ability to set executive direction
  • Work without direction and determine own methods to accomplish work
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, decision making/problem solving and influencing and team building skills
  • Strong experience in procurement, finance and contracts (legal)
  • High frequency of interaction with external suppliers and business partners
  • Strong computer skill with advanced Excel skills (VLook-Up, Pivot Tables, etc.) required.  SAP experience a plus
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
