Responsibilities Due to a strategic commitment to the growth of biotherapeutics within the Lilly portfolio, a small group focused on the development and support of automation is being formed. Bioproduct Research & Development is a multidisciplinary organization, focused on the development and commercialization of monoclonal antibodies, novel therapeutic proteins and peptides. These efforts are maximized through the collaborative activities of scientists at our Indianapolis with partners in discovery and manufacturing, taking full advantage of our scientific excellence and engineering capabilities in drug substance, analytical and drug product / device development, coupled with the integrated operational strategy of the biotherapeutic discovery, development and manufacturing organizations. If you are interested in being considered for employment with a Best in Class Pharmaceutical company, please review the following opportunity:The scientist/engineer is responsible for identifying automation opportunities, assessing available technologies and implementing, developing these technologies and supporting others seeking to leverage use of the automation tools available. The scientist/engineer is also responsible for working collaboratively with a wide array of scientists, engineers and automation experts from many disciplines, leading / supporting organization initiatives, and providing internal influence on the use of automation in a laboratory setting. It is preferred that the scientist/engineer should have some background in SQL-Server, SQL, Python, R, Visual Basic, and/or Oracle or other database or data-parsing programming tools.The responsibilities for this role will include:Oversee maintenance of automation equipment and execution of current automation workflowsCollaborate with analytical and formulation scientists and process engineers to develop and optimize information and material workflows and identify additional opportunities to leverage available in-house automationWrite programs to improve the functionality and capabilities of automation equipmentCreate or support database creation and maintenance to enable automated data transfer from physical automation to appropriate databases in conjunction with Lilly IT staffKeep abreast of automation technologies in industry and assess potential uses in BioProduct Research and DevelopmentEducate scientists on uses of automation in laboratory setting for routine sample preparation and automated assays in DevelopmentCollaborate with other automation groups in BR&D to harmonize and optimize automation efforts and workflows 32828BR Basic Qualifications Bachelors in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Computer Sciences or related field2+ year of experience in automated technologiesQualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States.
