DuPont Pioneer, a world leader in agricultural genetics, has an opportunity in our Engineering organization for an intern in our Automation and Process Control (A&PC) Operations Support group at our Johnston, Iowa corporate office.
 
The A&PC Engineering Intern will have responsibility as a member of the A&PC support team for the DuPont Pioneer North America Region. Duties will include:
  • Design, develop, and troubleshoot PLC-based automation systems
    • Hardware and software
    • Remote or on-site
  • Design, develop, and troubleshoot site HMI systems
  • Support servers and workstations (virtual and physical) that HMI and PLC systems run on
  • Assist with startups and checkouts
  • Develop projects to reduce production downtime related to automation systems
  • Document projects and troubleshooting findings
 
The A&PC Engineering support group at DuPont Pioneer manages the support of control systems used in the operation of a diverse group of processes involved in the production of agricultural seed products. The control systems used in our processes include Rockwell (Allen-Bradley) hardware and software products, the Apriso MES software platform, VFD’s, robotics, vision systems, sensor devices, etc.  Typical information systems involved include:  Process Control Network (PCN), servers, VM’s, firewalls, Cisco switches, security, version control, IP address management, and disaster recovery.

Job Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a four year electrical, software, or computer engineering degree program (or related fields) with at least two years of study completed.  Previous experience or internship with control systems or instrumentation preferred.

  • Able to work independently and simultaneously manage multiple jobs
  • General working knowledge of project execution methodology
    • Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
  • Good oral and written communication skills
    • Fluent oral and written English skills

  • Enthusiasm for learning
  • Apply technical and analytical reasoning skills to develop innovative solutions
