Business Summary
  • We are seeking an experienced Asst. Facility Supervisor for our In sourcing Solutions site.
  • Your primary role will include assisting the Animal Facility Supervisor in managing the daily operations of the facility by overseeing the training and performance of all animal husbandry and support staff and ensuring that all required tasks are performed and completed per established client expectations and company standards.
  • Assist Supervisor in coordinating personnel schedules with business activities.
  •  Participates in the emergency on-call and supervisor weekend rotation. 
  • Helps build competence among employees by conducting appropriate training activities and through appropriate supervision related activities.
  • Participate in conducting routine inspection of animal holding rooms, support areas, facilities, equipment and materials to determine the degree to which established levels of materials availability, animal facility support, sanitation levels, environmental parameters and security are being met/exceeded. Share responsibility for conducting health rounds and maintaining facility equipment.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of site-specific standard operating procedures (SOP's). 
  • Oversee adherence to site SOP's and all required documentation related to facility.  
  • Coordinate operations with the assistance of staff support facilities and personnel. 
  • Assist with the selection, training, and evaluation of all personnel assigned under this position’s supervision.
  • Assist Facility Superintendent with record maintenance to include autoclave cycles, tunnel and rack washer operations and sanitation.  
  • Report to management on operations-related issues.              



The following are minimum requirements related to the Asst. Facility Supervisor position.
  • Education:  Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science or related discipline. 
  • Experience:  Three years of laboratory animal barrier facility experience.  Working knowledge of laboratory animal welfare guidelines and AAALAC, International guidelines.  One year of computer experience with MSWord, PowerPoint and Excel programs and administrative experience in support of site operations required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
  • Certification/Licensure:  AALAS certification at the Technologist (LATG) level.
