An associate scientist position for a 24 months period is available in our Neuroscience Discovery Therapeutic Area focusing on Alzheimer’s disease research
The candidate will have more than 3 years experience in histology and immunohistochemistry, preferentially within the Neuroscience field
As part of a multidisciplinary project team, the candidate will function as an associate scientist in the lab to run and plan histology and immunohistochemistry experiments in line with project requirements.
Work will focus on drug discovery as well as technology development.
Specifically, the below will be a topic of the position: assist in immunohistochemical assay development to quantify and characterize a range of Aβ species. His/her task will involve immunohistochemical and histochemical analysis of brain from in vivo mouse studies to evaluate efficacy and safety of novel treatment paradigms, and to characterize and compare various mouse models
Specifically, the candidate needs experience in staining techniques for immunohistochemistry, including chromogenic and fluorescent immunolabelling. Experience in tissue processing including fixation, embedding and sectioning of FFPE and vibratome sectioning is required. Familiarity with imaging devices, e.g. Zeiss axioscan, and image analysis tools, including ImageJ or Definiens, is an advantage
Additionally, in vivo experience and appropriate certifications for working with laboratory animals are considered as a plus.
- Candidates should have a B.Sc. degree in Cell Biology, Biochemistry or related discipline and at least 3 years of experience in histology and immunohistochemistry
- Have demonstrated experience in performing experiments independently, including good data reporting skills
- Have the ability to operate within a multidisciplinary team
- Possess an enthusiastic, flexible and creative approach to problem solving
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
