|Job Description||We are looking for a talented pathologist to provide scientific guidance and leadership within the Translational Pathology Laboratory. The successful candidate will work in close collaboration with drug discovery research units and will be responsible for the execution of proof-of-concept and pre-clinical efficacy studies in AD, PD, ALS/FTLD, MS, and other neurological disorders. We seek a candidate with knowledge of the biology of neurodegeneration, the pathology of neurological disease, immunohistochemistry, in-situ hybridization, and immunofluorescence. The candidate will be required to perform microscopic evaluation and interpretation of tissues and coordinate quantitative image-based assessment of pathological endpoints. He/she will succeed by collaborating closely with other Biogen scientists and clinicians in the areas of neurodegeneration, neuroimmunology and repair, as well as experts in the multiple therapeutic modalities - small molecules, antibodies, biologics, antisense oligonucleotides and gene therapy - in the Biogen portfolio. We particularly seek candidates who have demonstrated strong scientific rigor while exploring novel pathways and mechanisms in humans and model systems and in leading research teams. Demonstrated expertise in experimental animal models of neurodegenerative disease would be an advantage but is not required. |

|Qualifications||Exceptional scientific rigor in neurodegenerative diseases or related field(s)|
Minimum of 5 years of independent research experience; experience in a pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry is preferred.
Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills
|Education||MD or MD/PhD in neurosciences or related field with American Board of Pathology board certification in Anatomic Pathology. Board certification in Neuropathology is preferred.|
DVM/PhD in neurosciences or related field with American College of Veterinary Pathologists board certification in Anatomic Pathology.
