Description

The position reports to the Asia, Pacific & Southern Aftrica (APSA) Region Procurement Lead in Animal Health Global Supplier Management. The role will take an active role in leading categorymanagement, contract management, risk management, stakeholder management, suppliervalue management and execute implementation projects through multi functional and country project teams within these categories. The incumbent will develop and maintain strong relationships with peers across Global Human Health Procurement, country operations leads, country finance leads and with suppliers.

Primary Activities

Primary activities include, but are not limited to:

Category Management – The candidate will be required to develop sourcing strategies at a local level whilst ensuring spend is managed in line with agreed Global and Regional strategies for up to a 3 year horizon. The candidate will be expected to create, align, present and maintain various indirect categories for APSA. The candidate should be able to quickly develop the ability to demonstrate in-depth market knowledge. This, along with utilizing global procurement benchmarking tools, will be used to provide insights to help develop solid sourcing strategies and add value with stakeholders and regional / global procurement colleagues at every opportunity.

Stakeholder Management & Communication – Proactively establish and maintain key stakeholder relationships within various AH country commercial operations to develop broad understand of Stakeholder needs and priorities. It is expected the incumbent will ensure the needs and priorities are reflected in category plans and sourcing strategies to meet both operational and strategic needs. Effect communication will play a key role in success and will be a key component of this role.

Supplier and Supply Market Analysis - to conduct a detailed supplier and supply market analysis looking at facts and data analysis with the objective of providing deep and meaningful insight to Sourcing Management teams.

*
Cost Modeling - to construct detailed cost models/purchase price analysis of goods and services that are supplied to MSD AH; this may include supplier visits to create a complete understanding of the cost structure of suppliers.

*
Negotiation Planning and Execution- to create detailed pre-negotiation plans, to lead and participate any prolonged negotiation sessions with suppliers and to conduct post negotiation debriefs and follow through plans.

Sourcing – to use MSD’s Sourcing Management Process to manage indirect categories (including creating and executing RFIs and RFPs together with subsequent structured information analysis). Thus striving for breakthrough results and sourcing strategies, whilst ensuring risk and compliance are appropriately managed.

Contract Management - to prepare, negotiate and implement appropriate forms of contract and commitment with suppliers.

Supplier Performance Management - to ensure that appropriate supplier agreements and relationships have good supplier metrics embedded within them. Monitor, report, manage and continuously improve supplier performance.

Team work - As Sr. Specialist, the incumbent will be expectedto generate work of a world class quality andshare and transferthis to colleagues throughout procurement locally regionally and globally.

Policy Compliance – Proactively work with stakeholders to manage MSD’s global purchasing policy to manage and minimize potential compliance issues.

Qualifications

Required
Education:

Undergraduate degree
recommended (with preference for business / economics or science related
degree)

Required Skills and Experience:

Experience: Minimum 5+ years of sourcing experience related to
procurement, project management, commercial, business or operational roles.

Skills: Self starter, solution
orientated, be able to exercise flexability and demonstrate an ability to work
on multiple projects, cultural awareness and sensitivity and adaptable in dealing with ambiguous and complex environments, ablity to effectively lead work within
diverse cross functional teams that acheieve company goals, and english proficiency written & spoken.
