The medical assistant will be responsible for completing both clinical and clerical front office tasks in Employee Health Services (EHS). Clinical duties include health surveillance and well-being assessments, allergy and travel injections and maintenance of clinic medical supplies. Clerical duties include answering the telephone, assisting patients with managing appointments, monitoring and directing patient flow, and document management.
Key Objective/Deliverables: Customer Service – 30%
Ensure all persons entering the EHS lobby are greeted and directed appropriately.
Answer the telephone while maintaining a polite and consistent manner using courteous and proper telephone etiquette.
Optimize patient satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by reviewing and updating clinician schedules.
Facilitate patient flow by monitoring volume and flow of patients in the waiting room, notifying the provider of patients’ arrival, being aware of delays, and communicating with patients and clinical staff.
Strict protection of patient confidentiality, making sure health information is secured and refraining from sensitive conversations at the front window.
Distribute travel kits to employees with instructions for use.
Issue accessible parking passes.
Direct Patient Care- 20%
Assist Registered Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants and Physicians in the delivery of direct patient care including but not limited to acute illness, infections and injuries.
Proficient in the tasks of phlebotomy, laboratory specimen collection, vision screening, vital signs, injections, audiometry and pulmonary function testing.
Maintain current Basic Life Support requirements.
Maintain compliance with HIPAA privacy requirements.
Assist with the treatment of occupational illness and injuries, vaccines for health surveillance and travel.
Departmental Support – 40%
Maintain clinic medical supplies by checking stock inventory and anticipating needed supplies.
Place and expedite clinic supply orders, verifying receipt of supplies.
Schedule medical equipment service and repairs.
Place initial work orders and initiate follow up on orders placed.
Assist with scanning and indexing of documents into the electronic medical record (EMR)
Review results of pre-placement screenings as directed by the Medical Review Officer.
Coordinate year-end cleaning of respective sites.
Monitor and respond to issues sent to the group mailbox from the EMR.
High school diploma/GED
Certificate in a clinical program that includes anatomy, physiology, phlebotomy, first aid, and medical terminology.
Completion of Post Offer Exam, Completion of Work Simulation or Completion of Administrative Skills Testing if applicable.

Previous front and back office medical assistant experience in a medical office setting.
Excellent communication skills including: telephone etiquette and face to face interaction.
Efficient time management, multi-tasking, organizational, and scheduling skills with attention to detail.
Working knowledge of medical terminology/treatments/procedures.
Working knowledge of Microsoft office computer and relevant software applications
Strict adherence to patient confidentially.
