An Antigen Production-DSP operator will be responsible for final preparation of culture media and other intermediates used in producing bacterial cultures, viral antigen, and final processing of bacterial and viral stocks. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision in accordance with standard methods, standard operating procedures (SOP), and Manufacturing directions using proper laboratory techniques.


  • Perform calculations and conversions involving weights, volumes, and percentages.
  • Select, verify, and document information contained on labels of all media reagents manufacture of bacterial and viral antigens.
  • Proper operation of automated and semi-automated equipment used in relation to Antigen Production and DSP processing.
  • Charge, inoculate, and harvest fermenters used to produce bacterial cultures antigen.
  • Prepare, inoculate, and harvest media, and tissue cultures associated with small scale antigen production.
  • Perform aseptic operations for production processes performed within area.
  • Operate DSP equipment.
  • Inactivate and neutralize stocks.
  • Perform inspection and assessment of equipment and material condition prior to use.
  • Document operations with strict adherence to cGMP documentation practices.
  • Perform General Housekeeping.
  • Follow BIVI s Standard Operating Procedures for the handling of hazardous wastes.
  • Conduct one-on-one training with new employees under Supervisor direction.
  • Routine and consistent attendance is necessary and important to the safety and operational policies and will be required to retain this position.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to read, understand, and follow written procedures.
  • Assist higher Grade operators under supervision.
  • May perform jobs of the lower grades as required
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Completion of Post Offer Exam, Completion of Work Simulation or Completion of Administrative Skills Testing if applicable.
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.

  • Knowledge of Decontamination and Sterilization
  • Knowledge of Traffic Patterns
  • Knowledge of or evidence of working with BPE methods
  • Understanding of Basic GMP/Documentation practices
  • Demonstrated ability and understanding of Safe working habits
  • Understanding of Basic Laboratory Practices, Measurements, Biology and Microbiology
  • Understanding of operating in an aseptic environment
  • Ability to work in a team environment
