Business Summary

We are seeking an experienced Animal Care Technician II for our Insourcing Solutioons site located in Atlanta, GA.

Maintain appropriate medical records for each animal in accordance with regulatory requirements. Monitor and ensure accurate recordkeeping procedures for the veterinary department. Review, comprehend and comply with all SOPs and quality assurance standards pertaining to specific area. Monitor daily health animal and welfare while performing daily animal health observations and animal husbandry duties to maintain the quality and health of research animals, to include: performing daily water bottle/automatic water line and cage checks; providing appropriate food and water; performing cage changing and/or cage cleaning as required; recording animal health concerns per SOP and/or specified protocols. Assure the implementation of preventive measures such as vaccinations, anthelminthic treatments, etc.Document and report to the veterinary technicians, or management regarding Non-Human primate health and care issues.

Administer, and record routine treatment of animals in medical records or related files. May participate in the response to internal/external inspections and quality assurance/control audits of areas. Assist in ensuring facility complies with all applicable regulations, guidelines, and standards that relate to animal care and use, e.g., USDA, FDA, AAALAC. Make recommendations to enhance veterinary and animal care standards for the site. May administer controlled substances. Maintain accurate records of animal breeding, health and housing or support areas as required by institute or facility. Assist with restraint, handling and manipulation of animal species as assigned by direct supervisor or veterinarian.

Strictly follows all procedures necessary to maintain animal housing areas, including room or facility personal entry, personal protective equipment use, spraying in all equipment and materials into controlled areas. Receive, inspects and puts away all incoming animals. Operate equipment and uses supplies according to safety guidelines, performs general housekeeping and adheres to safety procedures.

The following are minimum requirements related to the Animal Care Technician II position.

High School Diploma/GED with 6 months Non-Human primate experience or 1 1/2 years animal care and husbandry experience with lab animals required. OR BS in Animal Science or related with 6 months animal care experience; preferably with lab animal. ALAT at hire or achievement of within 6 months of eligibility.
