Scientist in a custom oligonucleotides company and academic background in immunology and neurobiology. Involved in drug discovery projects and in studies on the molecular mechanisms of learning and memory. Since 2015, employee in a DNA synthesis lab. Design and development of real-time PCR assays and customer support. Working Expertise and methodological know-how in fundamental and applied research, in areas such as genetics, molecular and cell biology, biochemistry and animal physiology. Responsibility as an independent project leader by steering and controlling several projects and being an active team member. High performance, professional working style dealing with daily demands in a flexible way. Supervision of teams of up to 6 members. Involved in laboratory organisation, teaching and communication. Working in an ISO 9001 ISO 13485 company. Taking up new challenges to enrich my knowledge in life sciences but also in the understanding of human beings and modern society.

Current Experience

  • Scientist - Designer and customer support Berlin, Germany
    Since April 2015

Design and development of real-time PCR assay (TaqMan probes, SimpleProbe, Hybridisation probes, molecular beacons) for quantification, genotyping (mutation analysis) and discrimination, in single detection and multiplex formats. Support for other DNA-based application (in situ hybridisation, methylation assays). Customer support: Assay design, information on our portfolio (research use only and CE in vitro diagnostic kits), sales and support by troubleshooting. Participation to the certification of CE IVD kits (Technical documentation, translation work). TIB Molbiol is an ISO 9001 /ISO 13485 company.

Past Experience

  • Trainee
    March 2015 --- March 2015
Design of real-time PCR assay (TaqMan probes, SimpleProbe)

  • Principal investigator - Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiter
    August 2012 --- August 2014
DFG (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft) Research Grant: “Molecular correlates of memory phases and development of molecular tools to modify brain physiology in the honeybee”. Applicant: Dr. Gérard Leboulle. Budget: 210,000 €. I analysed the molecular mechanisms of learning and memory in the honeybee Apis mellifera and performed neuroanatomical studies. I focused on the glutamate neurotransmission and glutamate chloride channels. Active in project management (planning of budget experiments, collaboration and work at the bench) and laboratory organisation. Documentation and communication of results.

  • Managing of ongoing projects
    May 2011 --- August 2012

  • Principal Investigator - Wissenschaftliche Mitabreiter Berlin, Germany
    March 2008 --- April 2011
I participated to the writing of the project. Budget: 820,250 €. I was involved in a joint project on hygienic behaviour that might be economically relevant. Studies on the glutamatergic neurotransmission and on the development of molecular tools to modulate brain physiology were continued. Project management (planning of budget and experiments, work at the bench) and laboratory organisation. Leadership of a research group of up to 4 members. Documentation and communication of results and involvement in teaching and in several collaborations.

  • Managing of ongoing projects
    July 2007 --- February 2008

  • Principal investigator - Wissenschatliche Mitarbeiter Berlin, Germany
    January 2004 --- June 2007
DFG (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft) Research Grant: “A molecular approach to describe the role of glutamate NMDA receptor in memory formation and behaviour of an insect model: the honeybee Apis mellifera”. Applicant: Dr. Gérard Leboulle. Budget: 210,000 €. DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst) grant: “The Role of Glutamate Receptors in Learning and Memory in the brain of Apis mellifera”. Applicant: Dr. Gérard Leboulle. Budget: 5,850 €. I initiated a study on the glutamatergic neurotransmission of the honeybee Apis mellifera, by focusing on NMDA glutamate receptor and glutamate chloride channel. As a member of the “Honeybee Genome Consortium”, I contributed to the annotation process of the genome. I worked on the development of molecular tools to modify specifically gene expression in the brain. Project management (planning of budget and experiments, work at the bench) and laboratory organisation. Leadership of a research group of up to 6 members, documentation and communication of results and involvement in teaching and in several collaborations.

  • Postdoc - Invited Scientist Berlin, Germany
    October 2002 --- December 2003

I studied the modality of cAMP dependent protein kinase (PKA) activation. The development of molecular tools to modulate brain physiology was undertaken.
