Current Experience

  • R&D Engineer: Fermentation and Biocatalysis
    Since May 2014
    • Supporting and preparing research projects within area of expertise • Planning, budget, staffing • Responsible for the execution of projects according to set targets • Managing and monitoring the project at the task level • Communication and documentation of project progress & results (internal & external) • Running fermentation at mid and pilot scale levels

Past Experience

  • Post doctoral researcher
    July 2009 --- May 2014
Working on a project called OXEROM. The project seeks to produce enzymes catalyzing oxidation-reduction reactions and to apply them towards the elimination of organic pollutants in drinking water (potabilisation) and wastewater (tertiary treatment). The targeted enzymes, mainly novel thermostable laccases, will be produced by fermentation using newly screened fungi and will be subsequently formulated by immobilisation and related approaches in order to become re-usable and resistant against adverse operational conditions. These robust new biocatalysts will be characterized in detail regarding their catalytic properties and operational stability. Their production will be optimized and scaled-up in close collaboration with microbiology and chemical engineering research partners. Finally, these new biocatalysts will be tested in the removal of hazardous micropollutants including xenoestrogens (endocrine disruptors).

  • Scientist/Post Doctoral Fellow

  • Shift Manager
    November 2003 --- November 2007
Shift management, production control, labour management, customer satisfaction, accounting and data management

  • Research Associate
    January 2003 --- July 2003
