I am a biologist with years of experience in biomedical and health services research. Over the last 10 years, I have built my career on one principle: use scientific knowledge and innovation to enhance people health.
In the last two years, I have been working at the European Brain Council (EBC), which is an organisation gathering brain-related professional societies, industries and patient associations. In my role as research project manager, I am responsible for the development of policy and health services research studies supporting EBC’s mission to promote health policy initiatives. In one of my most exciting work, the Value of Treatment, we assess, by using patient pathway analysis and economic evaluation, the “value” for patients and society of interventions addressing unmet needs in several disease areas. In the frame of this project, which involves about 100 experts across Europe, I had the opportunity to work closely with excellent health economists, healthcare professionals, industry representatives and patients as well. This gave me a strong understanding of both the principles and the methodologies of economics evaluation and care pathway analysis.
Prior to this position at EBC, I was a biomedical researcher at the VIB in Leuven (Belgium), where I hold a position of postdoctoral scientist. I have a master in Biology and a PhD in neuroscience.
On the personal level, I consider myself someone with a greedy intellectual curiosity. I have many interests and I always welcome the possibility to learn new things. Two years ago, I decided not to pursue a promising academic career because it was narrowing down my scientific interests. Besides, I am a social person who adapts quickly to new situations and integrates well in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment.
