i am a Research Biologist strongly interested in r&d and Human Resources. i consider myself an open and multi-skilled professional, what came up as a result of my diverse work experience. i am good in different tasks, but i especially enjoy the hands on approach: either exploring new techniques or pushing the limits of the conventional ones is extremely exciting for me. improving work quality and efficiency is a related subject that triggers me a lot, and which i would love to develop more in my Career. i have ability to learn and find ways to overcome obstacles in order to perform my tasks with excellence.

in this function i am the major responsible for Planning and developing experiments, as well as interpreting and reporting the obtained results. the projects are discussed in bi-weekly meetings, when the next steps are decided within a multidisciplinar Research team. during these meetings i have the opportunity to share my view on the projects directions, propose experiments and, also exciting, listen to the imputs from the colleagues on the data i have generated.
at this position i work mostly independently, so that have much freedom to manage my time and plan my work. i aslo work in team, especially producing work material to other researchers, Training colleagues on techniques in which i am good at, and Coaching new members in order to provide them with all the needed tips to perform well and feel integrated in that work environment.
next to that, i am also part of the orderings and budget administration team.

i had the pleasure to develop my phd studies in the department of morphology facilities, in daily contact with a really multidisciplinary team from which i have learned so much about histological preparations and Analysis, Immunoassays development, animal science, reproductive system Physiology, endocrine disruptors, and pre-neoplasic lesions in prostate Cancer.
my phd study was focused on the effects of glucocorticoids on the reproductive system development, and especially on prostate homeostasis and Cancer. all the experiments were carried out in rats, and were designed to simulate the corticotherapy employed in humans to accelarate the fetal lung maturaion, when there is risk of preterm labor.
i am proud to mention that i have planned and carried out 95% of the experiments by my own, as it traditionally happens in brazil. nevertheless, the uplifting atmosphere at the Laboratory with ever helpful colleagues was decisive to make this work possible.
PhD student Ghent, BelgiumApril 2012 --- March 2013
during 1 year i worked for the center for medical Genetics/ugent as an exchange phd fellow. the fruit of this work has been lately published in the renowned journal nature (listed in my cv), where all the serious work and effort we have made to finding a new selective druggable target for melanoma Treatment is beautifully described.
